Park in the Château Lesmann car park in Roppe, located along Rue du Stade towards the centre of the village. The nursery is also located in this car park.
(S/E) Take the Chemin des Isles opposite, marked with a red triangle. Turn right onto the Devant le Mont path. You will reach a crossroads in a hairpin bend.
(1) Leave the red triangle markings and continue straight ahead along the forest road. Pass the Stèle du Commandant Arnaud memorial. At the Y-junction, take the right-hand branch to reach the bridge at the tip of the pond and enjoy the beautiful view.
(2) Cross this bridge, temporarily leaving the forest road on the right to take the path along the pond. At the small Rey pond, rejoin the forest road. Take it to the right. After a hairpin bend to the left, you will find a crossroads at the next bend.
(3) Leave the forest road here and take the path on the right that climbs into the forest. Pass the Borne de Mazarin and a few hundred metres further on you will come to the junction with the Triangle Rouge marked trail.
(4) Take this path on the left to quickly reach a roundabout junction.
(5) Turn right and you will see the remains of an old artillery observatory on your left. Then follow the Blue Disc marked trail. You will reach the summit of Faré. Here you can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Vosges mountains.
(6) Follow the path that descends almost to the entrance to Anjoutey. Climb back up into the forest to the site of some old quarries. Reach the crossroads at the Maie farm.
(7) Leave the Disque Bleu trail and turn right onto the forest road. Exit the woods after crossing the Ruisseau des Perches stream. Continue along this road until you reach a crossroads at the edge of a copse.
(8) Turn right at a 90° angle to walk along the groves and continue through the meadows. At the next track, turn left and you will come to another crossroads with the Blue Disc trail.
(9) Turn right at a 90° angle and walk along the Eguenigue quarry. Then turn right onto the uphill road. Enter the Gros Bois. Follow this forest road, continuing to follow the blue disc markings.
When you reach Le Faré, turn left to find the crossroads with the Red Triangle trail you passed earlier, which marks the end of thisfirst circular route.
(4) Turn left onto the red triangle trail. Follow it to the Bois le Sire car park.
Here you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Jura Mountains and, on a clear day, all the peaks of the Swiss Alps.
(10) Leave the Red Triangle trail and turn left onto the road to reach the Vercombet junction.
(11) Turn right onto the track to complete thesecond circular loop at the Château Lesmann car park (S/E).
). Generally speaking, there is no military activity on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, so these are free for our usual walking days. On other days, you need to check whether the barriers are down, in which case you should avoid the area even if there is little danger, as the firing range is near Eloie.
