Car park at Étang de Hanau.
(S/E) With your back to the car park, head left onto the tarmac path that runs between the restaurant and the lake (marked with blue crosses and blue rings). At the first intersection before the Maison de la Forêt, follow the path on the right, marked with blue rings, then a few metres further on, continue on the right onto the path marked with blue crosses
(1) At the crossroads, follow the path that veers slightly to the right (marked with a Blue Ring). At the next junction, turn right and follow this path to the Lieschbach Pond, which you will pass on your left.
(2) After the pond, turn left onto the path marked with a blue cross and follow these markings to Falkenstein Castle, which is open to visitors.
(3) Retrace your steps for a few metres, then take the path that descends to the right and then to the left.
(4) Turn right onto the path marked with a yellow triangle. After a few hundred metres, follow the path marked with a blue ring to the left until you reach a forest road.
(5) Follow it to the left for about 500 metres. Then turn right, still following the Blue Ring.
(6) At the car park, turn left onto Chemin des Pionniers and continue a little further on the right (leaving the Blue Ring trail on the left).
(7) At the crossroads, turn left onto the path marked with red rings and follow it until the next major crossroads (elevation 247). Turn right to reach a large crossroads where there are still some blockhouses.
(8) Follow the Green Ring trail towards Erbsenfelsen and you will arrive at a wide forest road. Follow this forest road to the left (marked with a Red Diamond, Red Ring, Yellow Ring, Green Ring and Yellow Rectangle).
(9) At the crossroads, turn left onto a tarmac road that passes at the foot of Waldeck Castle and crosses the hamlet of the same name (ignore the turnings on the left).
(10) At the end of the hamlet, at the last house, follow the small path on the left through the fields. Cross a large meadow (beautiful cross on the left) and join the Hanau or Bornes Forest Road.
(11) Follow the forest road on the left, then turn right a few dozen metres later, following a path that leads into the forest.
(12) Continue left on the Hanau Bog discovery trail, which you follow for a short distance.
(13) At the end of the trail, follow the path on the left (marked with green and yellow rings) which takes you back to the Étang de Hanau car park (S/E).
