From the shores of the lake to the Chartreuse from Chemillé-sur-Indrois

Start and finish: Chemillé Lake.
Parking: Leisure Centre car park.

(S/E) From the car park, turn left towards the lake and stay on the road. It quickly turns into a path. Follow it and continue between the campsite and the lake.

(1) Pass the campsite. At the intersection after the campsite, move away from the lake and go up the path to the left, along the adventure park to approach the road.

(2) Before the road, turn right onto a path that descends. At the first fork, turn left to return to the road.

(3) Cross it and continue on the road opposite. Take the first road on the left across the fields. At the end, turn right onto the road towards the D760.

(4) Cross it carefully and continue on the small road opposite. After passing over a stream, the road continues straight ahead and then makes a 90° turn.

(5) At this bend, enter the forest via a small path on the right. Continue through the forest, staying on this path, which leads to a large forest lane.

(6) There, turn right. When you reach the wall surrounding the Chartreuse, continue straight ahead.

(7) Go past the wall, cross the RD760 with caution and continue along the forest path opposite, which leads to a wide avenue, the Avenue des Chartreux. Turn left. At the end, turn right and follow the woods until you reach a country road.

(8) Cross it and continue along the path opposite. It enters the Bois Semé before becoming a road at a place called La Bergerie.

(9) Continue and, at the end, turn right onto the road. After a left turn, then another right, go up and continue on the path on the left. At the end, continue on the road opposite, towards L'Érable.

(10) After the first houses, turn onto the first path on the right, then the first path on the left. This path forks to the right. Follow it to the old Moulin des Roches.

(11) Turn left onto the road, cross the two bridges and continue towards the farm. At the crossroads, cross the D10 with caution and continue straight ahead on the path through the fields. At the end, turn right into the tarmac car park.

(12) Continue along the path that descends under the trees. Follow this path behind the houses overlooking the lake. Continue to the end.

(13) Turn right onto the road, then at the intersection, follow the D10 to the left. Cross and go over the bridge over the Indrois. At the end of the bridge, turn left onto Rue des Marnes. Go up, then turn onto the second road on the right, Rue de l'Ancienne Ligne. At the end, continue on a passageway opposite, between two houses. Continue straight ahead on the road behind the cemetery and return to your starting point (S/E).

The lake and leisure centre in Chemillé.
Created in the bed of the Indrois river in the late 1970s, the 35-hectare lake is now an ideal site for many activities. Around the free supervised swimming area (July-August), you can go on a pedalo ride, go fishing or test your limits at the adventure park with its giant zip lines over the water, or simply relax on the beach.

The Chartreuse du Liget and the Corroirie.
The Maison Haute de la Chartreuse, which housed the Carthusian monks in isolation, still has its surrounding wall, a monumental^17th-century gate and the remains of the Romanesque abbey church and cloister. The estate was administered from the Maison Basse, the Corroirie, which still has a^13th-century church, a keep, moats and fortifications, as well as lodgings and communal buildings. Don't miss the Saint-Jean du Liget Chapel in the heart of a clearing in the woods. Chartreuse and Corroirie: admission fee / self-guided or guided tours by appointment. Chapel: free admission / keys available from the Tourist Office in Loches.

You will come across three walking trails: From Indrois to Pont Castle starting from Genillé (15 km), the Chemin des Légendes starting from Montrésor (8.5 km) and the Sentier historique du Liget between the Chartreuse and the Étang du Pas-aux-Ânes.
