Description of the walk

Car park in the village of Saint-Nic.

(S/E) With your back to the car park, head towards the church, go round it to the right and, at the crossroads, turn right towards Ménez-Hom via the D108. Pass the town hall and post office on your left and, on your right, the street leading to the old station.

Yellow markings

(1) At the former gatekeeper’s house, turn left onto the path, a remnant of the old Camaret-Châteaulin railway line. Continue along the grassy path which leads to a road at a place called Kerolier. Follow this road uphill to the right and turn right at the first road towards Kerscouarnec, which you pass by.

(2) Turn left onto the tree-lined path which climbs gradually until it joins a small road.

Yellow markings + white and redGR®

(3) Turn left and continue along this uphill road. Ignore the wide path on the left and join the D108 at a three-way junction (highest point of the walk).

(4) Turn right at the hairpin bend and follow the road for about 400m.

Yellow markings

(5) Let theGR® continue and veer right along the edge of the field towards the Ménez Lié Dolmen, already visible from the road. Continue along the edge of the field and begin a descent, facing Douarnenez Bay, through a moorland area (signposts).

(6) On the left, just after the path branching off to the left, is a memorial garden in memory of the cellist C. Philipp, who organised concerts at the Chapelle Saint-Côme, which can be seen below.
Continue downhill, crossing the D108. Pass a picnic area on your right and continue down the one-way road, then cross the D63. The chapel’s bell tower stands out against the sea in the background.

(7) Reach the chapel, leave the road on your right and continue down the same small road. About 200m further down, on the left by a meadow, after a livestock building, turn left towards the easily identifiable fountain. Continue along the edge of the meadow to rejoin the small road that leads down to the beach car park.

GR®34White and Red markings

(8) Turn right and follow the coastal path overlooking the large Pentrez Beach, where sand yachting takes place. Pass two campsites.

No markings

(9) At the third one, turn right into Rue de Ker Ys, which climbs alongside it. Pass some houses on the left and, at the junction, turn left into Rue du Manoir then right into Rue d’Ys, which continues as a small road. Ignore a road on the right and reach the D108, which climbs up from the beach.

(10) Follow the road to the right and, just before the cemetery, turn left into a street between two houses, then left again onto the path leading down towards the fountain surrounded by hedges.
Retrace your steps and continue along the path that runs alongside the cemetery.
Cross the road and head to the car park (S/E).
