Departure from Sèvres-Ville d'Avray station (Transilien lines L and U), on the Place Pierre Brossolette side.
No signposts
(S) With your back to the station, go up Rue du Maréchal Galliéni (alley) on the right. Take thefirst left, Rue des Dames Marie. At the next crossroads, turn left onto the same street and continue until you reach Avenue Gambetta (monument on the side). Then turn right and walk up the avenue. Enter Parc de Saint-Cloud through the Porte des Vignes (gate) and continue up to a large roundabout (Rond de Chasse).
Red and white markings
(1) Take thesecond path on the left (Allée de Chamillard, where there is a barrier) and follow theGR®1(red and white markings). Cross a bridge over a road. At the next junction, after a barrier, take the last small path on the left, then immediately right, still following theGR®. The path widens.
(2) At the bottom of a descent, turn left twice and go uphill. On a flat section, leave the wide path and turn right. Stay on the main path and ignore the side paths. This will take you to the park exit via the Porte Blanche.
(3) Walk down Rue de la Porte Blanche to reach the central square of Marnes-la-Coquette. Cross the road and continue to follow theGR® trail, which passes between Sainte-Eugénie Church (on the left) and the town hall (on the right). Cross the small Eudes de Sully garden and take Rue Gabriel Sommer on the left. At the end, turn right onto Rue Jean Minaud. As you enter Ville d'Avray, this street becomes Allée de l'Alboni and then Rue Neuve Thierry. At the end, turn right onto Avenue Thierry.
(4) Take thesecond alley on the left after the Marnes cemetery (follow theGR®2). Turn right in front of the gate and walk along the cemetery wall on your left.
(5) At a crossroads, continue straight ahead, first along the cemetery and then into the Fausses Reposes Forest. Cross a forest path and continue straight ahead (south-east).
(6) At a large crossroads, take thethird path on the left and go down a steep slope. At the bottom, cross Rue de Versailles and follow it to the left for about 50 metres. Walk past a hotel and take a small street on the right (Rue du Lac). This will take you to the Étang Neuf (a monument dedicated to the painter Corot).
N.B. Area under construction (as of July 2020): adapt to the situation on the ground and follow the signs on site.
(7) Take the dyke and walk along the pond on your right. At the end, go straight ahead (unless otherwise indicated due to roadworks) and climb south-south-east. At the top, continue to follow theGR®2, which heads south-south-west, and you will reach a crossroads at the boundaries of plots 106, 107 and 133.
Yellow markings
(8) Take thesecond road on the right, Route du Cordon du Sud, along plot 107 (do not follow theGR® which turns left). Pass Carrefour des Relais, continue west and, after a pond on the left, arrive at Carrefour des Bassins (signposts).
(9) Then take thesecond path on the right towards Haras de Jardy (plot 92). Pass between a few houses, cross the D985 (Rue de Versailles) and follow it to the right for a few metres.
(10) Then take the Route Royale on the left. Head north, pass a forest house and go uphill. Cross the Route de l'Impératrice and continue straight ahead uphill (plot 51).
No signposts
(11) At Carrefour du Haras (plots 40 and 48), turn left towards Parc des Haras de Jardy. Go through the gate and walk along a pasture on your left. At the crossroads, turn right and then quickly turn left to go around the park on the right. Pass between several buildings.
(12) At the crossroads, turn right and walk alongside the stables. At a small roundabout, continue straight ahead and walk alongside a building on your left. Then turn left and walk alongside the pastures on your left. At the end of the lane, at the corner of the Pavillon de la Faisanderie, turn right and leave the park.
"Owl" markings
(13) Cross the road, turn right along a small car park and a path marked by "owls" painted on the trees. Stay on the main path, which is marked and fairly flat, and ignore any side paths. You will reach the Carrefour de la Porte Verte at the entrance to Versailles (petrol station).
No markings
(14) Cross the crossroads and take Avenue de Villeneuve l'Étang opposite, which winds downhill and then heads south-west.
(15) At a crossroads, turn left onto Rue du Parc de Glagny and continue straight ahead until you reach Rue Albert Joly. Then follow this street to the right and continue straight ahead until you reach Rue du Maréchal Foch. Turn left onto this street and, after about 150 metres, you will find the Versailles-Rive Droite station on your left (E).
