From Senergues to Conques via the GR®65

From the pretty village of Senergues to another very beautiful village, Conques. The route alternates between roads and paths through the woods. The arrival in Conques is via a long descent that is quite steep in places. The views are magnificent. The path is always marked in white and red by the GR®65.

As this hike does not return to the starting point, you will need to leave a vehicle in Conques.

Description of the walk

GR®65 White and Red signposts

(S) From the stopover lodge, cross the village via Rue Louis le Pieux and continue on Route de Saint-Cyprien.

(1) Turn right, continue straight ahead, crossing the crossroads, which will take you to the Route des Landes.

(2) At the intersection, follow the path on the right.

(3) Continue straight ahead, leaving the path to follow Route Furgatieres.

(4) Be careful, before the crossroads, leave the road and take a path on the left.

(5) At the intersection, follow Route de Malrieu to the right.

(6) Leave the road and take the path on the left.

(7) Be careful at this intersection: first turn left and then immediately left again. Follow the signs carefully.

(8) At the intersection, turn right onto Route de Senergues until you reach Frontomieu. Drive carefully.

(9) Leave the road on your left and continue straight ahead on Route de Saint-Marcel towards the village of Saint-Marcel. Go through the village and continue on this road towards the hamlet of Le Baguet.

(10) At the intersection, turn left onto Chemin de la Croix Torte, continue along this road through the woods and join Chemin de Colombiers. Be careful, the descent is quite steep.

(11) Continue straight ahead on Chemin de Colombiers towards Conques (E).

Don't miss a visit to the abbey, chapel and cloister. In the evening, there is a sound and light show in front of the abbey.

As you walk around the Abbey Church of Sainte-Foy (12th-13th centuries) and through the narrow streets, you can admire the beautiful half-timbered houses.The hike crosses the medieval village, then passes through the vineyards, offering beautiful views of Conques and the Dourdou valley.
