From Platja Formentor to Cala Burta and back

From March to November, access by car beyond Formentor beach is only possible before 10am. This hike takes you to Cala Murta, a magnificent little secluded cove in the middle of nowhere.

Description of the walk

Park in the large car park at Formentor beach (mostly covered and often free).

At the start of the walk, you follow an unsightly embankment, then cross a few firebreaks. The walk is through woodland for most of the way, but on the return journey the climb up to Col de Olivardar with the sun at its zenith can be a bit of a struggle.

Cala Murta is a good spot for a swim (bring shoes as the beach is pebbly). The end of the walk is a great spot for a picnic.

The return journey follows the same route in the opposite direction.

A beautiful hike, difficult when temperatures are above 30 degrees and in strong sunshine. There is not much shade at higher altitudes. Moderate difficulty below 30°C and in cloudy weather. This is a beautiful walk, which guarantees you a 360-degree panorama once you reach the top!

Route starting from Cala Agulla , first passing through the pine forest to go around, then through the pine and oak forest to Cala Llobriga, then up to Som Jaumell for a spectacular panoramicview of Cala Lliteres, Capdepera, Cala Mezquida and, on a clear day, as far as Cap de Formentor. In some places, the trail is uneven and unshaded, so take care, especially in hot weather. You can take a well-deserved break for a swim at the various coves along the route.
