From Sainte-Anne Chapel in Cherrueix to the polders

This hike follows the path along the dyke between the Sainte-Anne Chapel and the Bertrand Polder and, on the way back, takes the Greenway linking Mont Saint-Michel to Cancale and continuing on to Saint-Malo and beyond. Beautiful view of the bay when the weather is good, which is often the case!

Description of the walk

You can park either near the chapel, at the exit of the village of Cherrueix when heading towards Saint-Broladre, or in the Chemin Saint-Anne car park when coming from Saint-Broladre.

(S/E) From the chapel, follow the path that runs along the dyke towards Mont Saint-Michel, roughly east-northeast. This is a variant of the GR®34.

(1) When you reach the Polder du Nouveau Conseil, continue straight ahead to reach the Polder Bertrand.

(2) Follow the GR®34, which veers to the right towards the land. After about 500 metres, the path veers to the left. Continue for 400 metres.

(3) Continue to the right, heading south towards a line of trees 300 metres away. Take the path that runs between the trees and follow it.

(4) Once you reach the tree-lined greenway, where the path splits in two, take the right-hand path. Leave La Saline and Palluel on your right and continue for another 400 metres.

(5) At the intersection, you can continue straight ahead on the greenway or take the path below (this route). The two routes rejoin a little further on. Choose the greenway if the weather is wet.

(6) At the crossroads, at Croix Morel, turn left and then, after about ten metres, turn right to stay on the GR®. Continue on the Voie Verte path until you reach open ground.

(7) You will then see the chapel on your right. Head towards it to finish the walk (S/E).

Notes

Watch your ankles on the path between the chapel (S/E) and point (2), as there are numerous rabbit holes that are often hidden by vegetation.
The route is accessible in all weather conditions, but avoid leaving the Greenway after rain.
The Greenway is shared with cyclists and horse riders, so you need to remain vigilant.
