Short tour of the Polders in Cherrueix

There are two car parks nearby: a small one, which can sometimes be muddy, at the three-way junction on the outskirts of Cherrueix (48.60724, -1.667151) and a second, larger one, which is drier and also accessible to motorhomes (48.61072, -1.671482).

(S/E) From the car park, access the dyke and head straight towards the Sainte-Anne Chapel.

(1) Keep to the left and walk along the salt marshes.

(2) Continue straight ahead along the salt marshes, staying on the dyke.

(3) Turn right onto the tree-lined path on the left, stay on the path and turn left after 300 metres. Continue for about 200 metres until you reach the intersection (ruined house).

(4) Turn right south towards the Greenway, passing in front of the Croix Morel farm. At the first crossroads, take the Greenway on the right at the last barriers.

(5) Head right, due west. At the next crossroads, leave the Polder Colombel on your right and continue straight on to the equestrian centre.

(6) Stay on the Greenway, which leads to the lake near the chapel. Continue on the left to return to the starting point (S/E).

No toilets on the route.
Be careful between (1) and (3) as there are numerous holes that may be hidden by vegetation. Watch your ankles.

The route is shared with cyclists and horses between (5) and (1).

Remember to close the gates along the dyke.
