Start the stage at the entrance to Dourdan Castle.
Red and white GR®1 markings
(S/E) Facing the entrance to the château, go around it on the left before turning right twice to follow Rue des Fossés du Château. At the bend, go down the stairs on the left and continue straight ahead until you reach the junction with Rue Haute Foulerie. Go down this street and then take the first right, Rue du Moulin du Roi. Continue to the roundabout.
(1) Exit right onto Boulevard Émile Zola before taking the path that enters the woods on the left. Ignore all intersections and continue straight ahead, along the Orge, until you reach Rue du Potelet.
(2) Go up this street via the path that runs alongside it on the right. Then continue on the pavement after the crossroads. At the roundabout, take the second exit before turning left onto Rue Maurice Gallais (with the sports grounds on your right). Continue along a forest path. Keep going straight ahead and ignore a path on the right. At the Y-junction, keep left and continue to another crossroads.
(3) Take the path downhill, then turn right twice. At the three-way fork, continue straight ahead on the same track, Route des Buttes Blanches. Further on, keep to the right and reach Route des Soupirs.
(4) Go straight ahead. At Carrefour du Grillon, take the third road on the right. Ignore a junction and continue to Carrefour de Marcoussis.
(5) Continue on the second road on the right to reach the departmental road at Carrefour du Beau Chêne.
No markings
Leave the GR®1 and turn left onto Route de la Jumelle. Then turn right to see the Chêne Louis.
(6) Return to the departmental road.
Red and white GR®1 markings
Cross the road carefully and take the first forest path on the left. At Carrefour de l'Aleu, go straight ahead, pass the barrier and keep to the left. Follow the forest track to the departmental road at Carrefour du Rendez-Vous.
(7) Turn right and pass under the railway line and the Aquitaine motorway. Take the first path on the right. Please note that the IGN maps are out of date at this point and you must follow the suggested route to stay on the GR®1. Ignore the two paths coming from the right and the third coming from the left to find the track.
(8) Head right and quickly ignore an intersection coming from that side. Then go straight ahead to the water tower. Next, at each intersection, continue on the path opposite to reach Rue du Beauluisant.
(9) At the end of this street, continue straight ahead to cross the Rémarde. Ignore a path on the left and take the next left turn. Go around the Church of Saint-Nicolas and turn right onto Rue Charles de Gaulle.
(10) First turn left then right to reach Rue du Billoir. Cross Rue des Remparts before continuing almost to the end of the street. Just before the end, take the passage on the right and then keep to the left to pass over an old railway line.
(11) On the other side, follow Rue des Paradis. At the end, continue straight ahead, with the remains of the railway line on your right. Join Rue du Paradis further on and, at the end, take the second left onto Rue de Guhermont. At the bend, go straight ahead onto a path that runs alongside the houses before reaching a crossroads.
(12) Turn left before taking the first path that goes up to the right. On the way up, ignore a smaller path coming from the right and continue to the top of the hill.
(13) Continue along the path. When you reach Carrefour du Pendu with a gate on the left, continue along the same path until you reach the road and Carrefour des Chevreuils.
(14) Continue along the path opposite. Pass two crossroads on the right and go straight ahead at the third. At the fourth, turn right. Do the same at the next two crossroads to reach a small pass.
(15) Continue along the path. At the four-way junction, Carrefour des Jumelles, go straight ahead and continue to the houses of Moûtiers. Continue along Chemin de la Haye de Rochefort and go to the centre of the village.
(16) Turn left up Route des Yvelines. Continue along this road until you reach the edge of the village. At the bend at the edge of the village, you will come across a track.
(17) Turn right onto this track and then climb to the left. At the crossroads with the barrier on the right, keep to the left before leaving a path that descends to the left. Do the same at the next crossroads to reach Poteau Sainte-Scariberge. Go straight ahead to stay on the same forest track. Continue straight ahead, ignoring the Carrefour de la Mare aux Douins and Carrefour des Maugarnis crossroads. At the road, at Carrefour Messire Jean, continue straight ahead. Ignore a path on the right to arrive at Carrefour de Goursac.
(18) Turn right at a right angle. At the Carrefour de la Descente junction, follow the Route du Haut Levé to the left. After a descent and then an ascent, continue straight ahead at the Carrefour de l'Ancien Étang junction, then do the same at the Carrefour Biscornu junction and reach the next junction.
(19) Turn onto the path on the right. At the end, go right, then quickly left. At Route du Parc de la Verrerie, turn left onto Route du Poteau des Yvelines.
(20) Continue to the right. At Carrefour des Enclaves, turn left. Ignore Carrefour de Saint-Benoît and cross the D906 very carefully to reach Poteau des Hogues, continuing straight ahead.
(21) Go straight ahead before turning onto the next path on the left. At the intersection, turn left, cross the D73 and reach the Étang de la Tour.
(22) Walk along the left side of the pond. At the end, turn right to stay along the pond and stay on the left path to rejoin the D906.
(23) Cross again with great caution. Continue on the path opposite and ignore an intersection on the left and another on the right to reach Carrefour du Petit Haut Levé.
(24) Keep to the right, then at the stream, turn left and continue straight on until you reach the D27.
(25) Cross carefully and continue along the path opposite. Ignore the two paths on the left to reach the Étang d'Or.
(26) Turn right, then immediately left along the pond. Ignore a junction on the right, then another on the left. At Route de la Droue, turn left. Keep left again before reaching an intersection.
(27) Turn completely right. Then keep left, then right. Then go straight ahead and do not follow the path that then turns right to join Route de la Fosse Jean. Go down this track on the left until you reach Rue du Château d'Eau.
(28) Turn right to pass in front of the cemetery. Leave the national road slip road on your left, then keep left to pass under the road. At the roundabout, go straight ahead onto Rue des Eveuses until you reach the next roundabout.
(29) Keep going until you reach the railway line. Go under the bridge.
No signposts
Take Rue de l'Embarcadère on the right and head towards Rambouillet SNCF train station (E).
