From Orcival to Laschamps

The hike starts either at the Lodge du Pont or at the car park of the Basilique Notre-Dame d'Orcival, where you can park.

(S) With your back to the Lodge du Pont, turn left towards the Basilica of Orcival.

(1) At the car park of the Notre-Dame d'Orcival Basilica, turn left onto Rue de Corbes, following the sign for “Toutes directions”. Continue straight ahead along the gently ascending road (north-east).

(2) At the D27, cross over and take the^{GR®®441-GR®®30}(red and white markings) opposite, heading towards the Notre-Dame Chapel. Take a small road that leads onto a path, then 100m further on, turn left (north).

(3) At the hamlet of La Croix, turn right onto a small road and after 50 m, turn right onto the^GR®®30(north-east).

(4) At the Y-junction, veer right, skirting the woods towards the hamlet of Juégheat (downhill towards a small valley).

(5) At the end of the path, turn left towards the hamlet of Juégheat (north). In the hamlet, at the first and second junctions, keep right, staying on the^GR®®30all the way to Voissieux.

(6) At the hamlet of Voissieux, just after the wash house, at the junction with the D556, continue straight on (slight descent, heading east). Continue straight on and, after crossing the River Sioule, turn left, continuing straight on.

(7) At the hamlet of Neuville, continue straight on and, at the end of the road, turn left towards Laschamps (north).

(8) At the second junction, turn right (east), continue straight on and cross the Ruisseau de la Gorce.

(9) At the three-way junction, veer left then immediately turn right and join the D2089.

(10) Once you’ve left the path, the D2089 is in front of you. You can avoid having to cross the main road; 200m further on, there’s a pedestrian tunnel on your left – take it. Take the next right and rejoin the paths.

(11) At the end of the road, by a long trough and a small hut (an old bread oven, which can be used as a shelter), take the path on the right and head uphill. After 100 m, this leads onto a small road. Join it, follow the bend to the left and, at the next junction, turn right onto the road.

(12) Continue straight on to Laschamps; do not turn off onto other GR®®^trails.

(13) In Laschamps, to reach the “Espace Volcan” stopover lodge, turn left. It is on the left, 150 m further on (E).
