In Saint-Martin-de-Tours, when you see the chapel surrounded by its cemetery on the right, look for a Balirando hiking sign by the roadside and park on the grassy area between this sign and the chapel.
Blue markings, lines or smallPR®® signs with a few yellow "route le Puy d'Ébert" signs along the entire route (Balirando).
(S/E) Go to the cemetery entrance and take the path on the right. Further on, ignore the access to the road on the right and continue along the path.
(1) At the hamlet of Gioux, cross a road and continue along the street opposite, Chemin de Fléchat. Ignore a path on the left.
(2) Leave the road and take a grassy path ascending to the right, on the slope of Puy d'Ébert. Further up, at the T-junction, turn left to go around the hill to the south, continuing to climb a little, then descending.
(3) At the first T-junction, with a forest path not shown on the map, turn left, immediately arriving at a second junction and turning left again. You will soon arrive at an old small road and follow it to the right.
(4) At the intersection with a busier road (D216), first turn right then left to take the path almost opposite. Further on, it is covered with old tarmac and leads to Montcheneix, at a T-junction.
(5) Follow the street to the right and you will arrive at a square with a pretty wrought iron cross. Turn left and then immediately right at the fountain and wash house onto Rue du Château d'Eau. Go straight ahead, ignoring the side streets, pass in front of the Ferme des Combes (cheese shop, see § Things to see), pass a fountain-drinking trough-wash house, continue straight ahead on Rue de la Forge which, further on, descends, continuing to ignore the side streets. Continue in the same direction on a short tarmac path and you will come to a street at an iron cross. Turn left, pass an unrenovated fountain-wash house, and cross a stream before ignoring a path leading to farm buildings on the left.
(6) At the crossroads, turn right, cross the D216 and enter Saint-Martin-de-Tours. Leave the fountain-oratory and the cross on your left and, at the fork in the road, keep left onto Rue de l'ancienne École. Take the first street on the right, then turn left at the next intersection. Pass between the Chemin de la Forge street sign and a fountain-trough, then turn right at the intersection. At another drinking fountain and the Rue des Jardins street sign, continue straight ahead. At the covered wash house called "Sénat des Dames", continue straight ahead on the grass to reach the car park near the chapel (S/E).
