From Ombret to Neuville-sous-Huy via the Ampsin lock footbridge

Parking and departure from the DNF kiosk, 22, rue Les Communes, Ombret-Rawsa, municipality of Amay.

(S) From the kiosk, go back down and take the street on the right. This joins a larger street which you follow downhill for about a hundred metres before taking the small street on the left, which is steeper. At the bottom, cross straight ahead into the street blocked by two large concrete blocks. Walk down to the bottom, keeping to the right at No. 22. Take the small passage under the main road and continue straight ahead to the end of Rue des Prisonniers Politiques.

Take the grassy path on the left, passing in front of the old church (NB: building under construction between the ruins of the church) and running alongside the motorway, then take the slip road over the motorway leading to the bridge, which you cross.

(1) After crossing the Meuse, take the steps leading to the towpath, go back under the bridge and walk along the Meuse (on your left) upstream.

(2) After passing Île de Pontière, the path splits in two and runs alongside the entrance to the former Amay gravel pit, now a nature reserve (you can walk around it, see the "Things to see" section). Continue straight ahead, following the Meuse.

After passing through a wooded section, the path leaves the Meuse and approaches the Ampsin-Neuville lock.

(3) Take the Corten steel footbridge on the left: this crosses the fish ladder (in the form of a winding river), the small hydroelectric power station, the dam, the old and new locks and finally the N90, which you follow to the right. Use the ramp at the end and join the RAVeL path running alongside the N90 towards Huy.

(4) After 750 m, turn left into Rue de la Neuville. Walk up this road to the last houses. Continue for another 400 m (forest access) and pass under the bridge.

(5) Continue along the forest path, which gradually climbs the slope following the Maurissart stream. Ignore the forest path on the right that crosses the stream, then the one on the left shortly after the main path has crossed the stream itself. After an information board, the path crosses the stream again, then climbs towards the houses and ends at Rue des Neuf Bonniers.

(6) Take Rue des Neuf Bonnier on the right and, when you reach the roundabout, cross it on the left, climb the embankment opposite and take the forest path on the left (ignore the first path on the right, which is private, and the one on the left a little further on, which is also blocked). An information board (map of the estate) indicates that you are on the right track. Follow this path for 2 km through the woods.

(7) When you reach the first houses, after walking alongside a pasture, continue for another 300 m and take the first street on the right. At the intersection, continue straight towards the woods and, at the entrance to the woods, take the small farm track on the left which leads back to the starting point (kiosk) (S/E).

"La Gravière" nature reserve, Rue Ponthière, 4540 Amay. You can walk around it starting from point (2): to do so, do not go through the barrier, but go around it on the right via the small path and enter via the side entrance (Rue de Ponthière). Once you have completed the tour, exit through the barrier at point (2). There is also an exit on the other street (Rue de la Centrale).
