The Ridgeway the other way. The National Trail from NE to SW. This Stage 3 has a bit of everything. The route runs long the Upper Icknield Way on the way to the small hamlet of Swyncombe. Then crosses the Chiltern Way on it's way to the village of Nuffield. The route then runs on a narrow secluded path alongside the ancient Grim’s Ditch before reaching the River Thames. On the opposite bank, another National Trail runs, The Thames Path

Then along River Misbourne thru' Shardeloes Estate, before diverting to Old Amersham.

The third stage leaves High Wycombe, passes Hughenden Manor estate of former Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, then continues through Chiltern hills and woodlands past Hampden House seat of John Hampden prominent parliamentarian in the Civil War, joining the Ridgeway national trail on the edge of the Chequers estate.
At this point, continue on stage four to Little Kimble station.Alternatively, follow the Ridgeway eastward to Wendover station for services to Amersham Underground station on the Metropolitan Line.
