Description of the walk

From the Cortalets refuge (S), head due south on theGR®83(Grande Randonnée Transfrontalière) to reach the Ras des Cortalets refuge.

(1) Leave theGR® on your right and turn left onto the wide track leading to the Jasse des Cortalets refuge.

(2) Continue along this track to the Jasse d’En Blatinat, then on to the Col des Voltes.

(3) Then leave the track on your right and take the proper path which, via numerous zigzags, allows you to lose altitude quickly.
You will then cross a track at a place called l’Artillur.

(4) Continue along the path to reach, 1,500 metres further on, the village of Fillols (E), the end of the walk.

We came down from Les Cortalets partly along this route, but then turned off to reach the Col de Millères. The section we took was well signposted. The descent took 3 hours to the pass at a leisurely pace; we met several people on their way up; I wouldn’t recommend approaching Les Cortalets via this path – it’s steep in places – but would suggest taking the Balaigt track instead. A pleasant descent through the forest, though with no particular views.
