Car park on the left of the D31, exit Gevrey-Chambertin in the direction of Chamboeuf (1.5km).
(S/E) Take the path at the end of the car park. The path follows along a reservoir building, then zigzags up through the beech forest before reaching the foot of the Bec de Judry cliffs (pointed rock).
(1) At the summit, follow the contour lines to the right (Bernard Quartaux trail: 2km) along the edge of the ledge overlooking the Combe Lavaux, which offers some good views.
(2) Continue as far as the D31.
(3) Beware, crossing with very poor visibility. Cross the road and follow the path for about 50 yards, then turn right and follow the path (600m) to the bottom of a valley (Vanoche).
Turn right and follow the contour line. The well-marked path follows along the cliffs up to the Château Renard promotory fort (2.5km).
(5) Enjoy the beautiful views over both the valley and the plain. Go around the end of the promontory fort to the northeast.
(6) Go right down a steep, stony track, which descends in a straight line to the main road (beware of slipping). At the bottom is the D31. Cross it, then turn right to reach the car park at 500m (S/E).
