Park at the chapel on Route de Notre-Dame de la Gorge, opposite the La Cité Montjoie stopover lodge.
(S/E) Walk down Rue de Notre-Dame de la Gorge. After 200 metres, continue downhill on the right, just before the restaurant L'O à la Bouche, on the path leading to Torrent Le Bon Nant. When you reach the stream, turn left and cross the street to reach a footbridge.
(1) Cross the torrent and follow it along the other bank. You will come to another footbridge.
(2) Turn right towards the cable cars via Chemin des Echenaz, leaving the footbridge on your left. At the crossroads, cross the road, which has widened and serves as a car park for skiers. Continue to the end of the car park.
(3) Turn right and cross the hamlet of Le Baptieu. Stay on the carriage road without ever leaving it. Cross the hamlet of Les Places and walk along the hamlet of La Montaz. Take a final left-hand bend to reach the Auberge de Colombaz. Enjoy the beautiful view of Mont Blanc and the Dômes de Miage to the east.
(4) Continue along the path, which is now flat. Walk past the houses of Le Crozat and Le Plan to reach Les Bécus.
(5) Cross the Torrent des Bécus and turn left onto the grassy path that descends slightly. At the bend, turn right and begin a steep descent to the Torrent du Stream Rouge.
(6) Cross the stream and start climbing. The slope is very steep at first but short, then the path becomes much easier. Reach the Auberge des Tappes.
(7) Stay on the path, keeping to the left of the lake. At the next crossroads, you have two choices:
- take the path on the left (descriptive).
- take the track on the right.
These two routes meet a little further down, below the cable car.
(8) Take the track on the right to reach the hamlet of Baptieu.
(3) Follow the same route back to the car park where you started (S/E).
