Description of the walk

Park in the large car park at Pont de Lédédian.

(S/E) Cross the bridge and take the wide track leading to the mountain hamlets. Pass Le Roux, staying on the wide track to reach Les Chalets de Porte.

(1) Then turn right. At the next junction, leave the path coming from Les Challenles on your left. On leaving the forest, you’ll come to a junction of two tracks.

(2) Take the track on the right to quickly reach Lac de Gers and its refuge.

(3) Walk along the right bank of the lake, then enter the Combe de Gers. Begin a steeper climb to reach the junction of the path leading to the Tête de Veyret.

(4) Leave this path on your right and continue along the one on the left, emerging at Col Pelouse onto a wider track.

(5) Turn left onto this track and follow it to reach the Col de Platé.

(6) Turn left onto the path, walk between the sharp limestone pavements and reach the junction with the path coming from Col Pelouse.

(7) Turn right onto this track, entering the Combe des Foges. Follow the southern and northern ridges of the Pointe du Griffon downhill. Pass under the power line before reaching the Chalets des Foges.

(8) Continue the descent, reaching a track after crossing a mountain pasture. Follow it, making a wide left-hand bend before reaching the junction of the track you passed on the way out.

(2) Turn right back onto the track you took on the way up and head in the opposite direction to reach the Pont de Lédédian car park (S/E).

A beautiful hike with no particular difficulties except for its length and elevation gain, especially after passing Lake Gers.
Beautiful views at the Col de Plate (Mont Blanc and Lappiaz). Few people except at the Col de Platé, where hikers arrive via the Grandes Platieres cable car (Flaine).
The descent is more wooded than the ascent. Watch out for the flock of sheep when you are in their enclosure; there is a patou (a type of sheepdog) present but it seems friendly and is watched by a shepherd.

I had a fantastic trail run and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
There were lots of people up to the Lake of Gers and then at Flaine, but otherwise it was really peaceful, which is what I liked.

The weather was a bit mixed, but I got some great views!

A hike done as a bivouac trip to the Col de Pelouse. The climb up to the pass was a bit long, but the view from the top was magnificent!
However, the estimated time is greatly overestimated. I extended the route by 5 km by going as far as Grands Platières, and it took me 7 hours 30 minutes for the whole route. And there were no technical difficulties or tricky sections.

Hello

Discovering a new, well-marked hike.

After spending the night at the Lac de Gers refuge, where we received a warm welcome, we set off at around 8 am. However, following advice given at the refuge, after passing Lac de Gers we took the path on the left that follows the chairlift uphill: a better-maintained path in the shade, but stony and steep!
Exploring the Platé Desert.
We returned without any problems, arriving at the Lededian bridge around 6 pm.

However, I don’t understand the description – ‘very difficult’ – for a fairly long route but one without any particular difficulty.
We were two older people, occasional hikers!

The route wasn’t too busy that day, partly because of the weather (a bit damp), and as you mentioned it’s a Very Difficult route – which suits me fine; I quite like a challenge, as long as it’s safe for a 62-year-old like me!! Bonifacio Guerreiro
