Car park at the cable car station, south of the village of Samoëns.
(S/E) From the car park, head for the rural path along the embankment and follow it as it climbs up the Torrent du Giffre. On your left, you will pass a holiday village.
(1) At the first footbridge, turn right and take the path that runs closest to the stream. Continue to the Pont de Revé, which you will not cross.
(2) Continue up the Giffre, which you will always have on your right. Carry on until you reach the D907 and follow it to the right until the next bridge.
(3) Take this road to cross at a place called Les Faix and reach the Notre-Dame-des-Grâces Chapel, which is situated below on the left.
(4) Retrace your steps. Continue south-east on theGR®®5, crossing a large meadow, and carry on to the footbridge spanning the Gorges de Tines. Cross the bridge and join the country lane known as Balme Dessous, which leads to the D907 on the right.
(5) Turn left and follow this road with care. At a small chapel on the left, turn right to reach Balme Dessus via the Route du Mont.
(6) In the hamlet, turn right and follow the small road towards Le Mont (local road No. 5), which winds its way uphill. At the road, continue uphill to reach the small village of Le Mont and its chapel.
(7) Retrace your steps and head down the opposite way along the country lane known as the “Balme Dessus to Le Mont” path
(8) Turn left. This path winds its way up and passes above Balme Dessus. Near Balme Dessus, continue along the path opposite, heading due west. Descend to join the D49 before Vallon d’en Haut.
(9) Cross Vallon d’en Haut and continue along the road to Vallon d’en Bas and its chapel. On leaving the village, turn right towards Sous la Ville, where you follow the Clévieux stream upstream to the first bridge.
(10) Cross it, then continue along the Route des Moulins, which turns left at a cross. Leave the road running alongside the river on your left, then turn right into Rue de l’Ancienne Fruitière. Leave this road on the right to join a path leading into Rue des Chanoines, which takes you to the church, which you walk around.
(11) At Place du Gros Tilleul, turn right onto Rue des Billets, which you will leave on the left for a path leading to Impasse des Chardons Bleus. Go down this cul-de-sac on the right, walk alongside the cemetery, cross the D907 and continue left along Route du Stream d’Ant.
(12) At the river, turn right onto the rural path along the embankment. Follow it to return to the first footbridge you crossed.
(1) Head towards the Torrent du Giffre on your left and return to the car park (S/E).
