Access via the car park on the right at the entrance to Thueyts when coming from Aubenas.
(S/E) Head towards the Devil's Bridge by going under the road and following a paved slanting street to the Roche marker. Take the path on the left towards Fargebelle. Cross the car park to reach the Devil's Bridge.
(1) After crossing the bridge, take the path on the left and, about 20 metres further on, go up the path on the right to an orientation table. Then continue to the ruins of the hamlet of Fargebelle.
(2) Take the path on the left towards La Souche, which joins a track. Turn left onto this track and follow it to a cistern in a bend. Immediately after, leave the track and take the path until you rejoin it. Turn right and follow it to a crossroads at the Les Pleines signpost.
(3) Take the track on the right, which leads to a gentle climb to the Col de Fontfreyde.
(4) At the signpost, head towards Thueyts via the ridge path on the right. When you reach a fork, take the left-hand path, which is stony and a little steep, and crosses the forest. You will reach a track which you follow to the left for a few metres until you reach a path on the right that leads to a road.
(5) Take the paved path directly opposite, which appears to be a private driveway but is in fact a public road. Descend the small staircase to a house and continue around the back. Turn right after the house and join the road.
Turn left and a little further on, take the path on the right which crosses a small wood and runs alongside a stream. Then cross the hamlet of Luzet to reach a road.
(6) Take it to the right towards a campsite. Reach a fork and turn left towards the Échelle de la Reine. Cross the Ardèche on the Pont de Vernède bridge and reach the top of the Chaussée des Géants via the magnificent staircase known as the Échelle de la Reine. Then return to the car park at the start of the walk by following the white and yellow marked path (S/E).
