Belvèze Pass from the village of Seignaux

Starting from the village of Seignaux, which was once an old kaolin (white clay) mine used to make porcelain, you will reach the Col de Belvèze to discover a superb view of the Pyrenees mountain range. Back in the village, you can take a few minutes to learn a little more about kaolin, see the wagon used in the mine, and admire the view from the orientation table.

Description of the walk

Follow the signs for Montoulieu then Seignaux to reach the village. Just before the centre of the village, there is a small car park and another one below.

(S/E) Follow the road that winds through the village, past the children's playground, until you reach a fork and a sign indicating an altitude of 800 m.

(1) Take the path on the right towards the Cabane des Gardes. Start the walk in a shady undergrowth and you will come across the first ruins on your way.

(2) At the intersection with another path, continue to the right.

(3) A little further on, take the small path on the left, leaving the wider path on the right. (At this point, an alternative is to continue on the wider path, then take the forest track that climbs to the left).

(4) Take the path that climbs into the woods on the left again. This is probably an old logging road that climbs quite steeply. Join the forest track.

(5) Follow it to the left, where the slope becomes gentler. Follow the forest track until you reach a grassy track lined with ferns on both sides.

(6) Keep to the right and then stay to the left, still on this grassy track. Continue until you reach the signpost.

(7) Follow the direction of Taus on the right for a round trip to Roc de Taus. Reach Col de Belvèze at an altitude of 1,159 metres and admire the view.

(8) Turn left for another 130 m (according to the sign) to reach Roc de Taus (altitude 1182 m), where you can enjoy a 270° view.

(9) Turn back to the sign indicating the direction of Roc de Taus.

(7) Turn right and begin the gentle descent along the winding grassy track that branches off to the right and joins the intersection of the loop.

(1) Follow the road through the village again to return to the car park (S/E).

Back in the village, head towards the kaolin garden, which will take you to an orientation table, a table with benches in the shade with a water point, the kaolin mine cart and some explanations about the origin of the mine.

The trail is not very well marked, so you have to trust your instincts, but it's not complicated either; you just have to follow the main tracks.
A relatively easy hike with beautiful views of the valley and Tarascon. The icing on the cake and a big surprise that day was the bellowing of the stags. Magical
