From Foix, head towards Ferrières-sur-Ariège and follow the D421. There is a convenient, easily accessible car park next to a paragliding launch site.
(S/E) Head south on the paved road before leaving it 400 m further on (elevation 1219) and continue south on the Montoulieu forest road until elevation 1216.
(1) Before a hairpin bend, take a path on the right that climbs quite steeply south-west. A sign for "Cabane des gardes" indicates the track (see photo), which is now marked with a yellow dot. It is easy to miss this path, so please pay attention.
(2) Cabane des gardes, a small refuge with picnic tables, in excellent condition (please keep it tidy). Continue climbing south-south-east to the Col du Tracadou (elevation 1318).
(3) Take the track on your right that climbs directly towards the ridge, leaving the track below. Pass the Roc du Cap de la Cauge and Roc de la Devèze to reach Bout de Touron (altitude 1,488 metres).
(4) View towards the valley and the Pyrenees. Continue west along the ridge until you reach a fork (altitude 1,450).
(5) Possible option: extend the hike with a return trip along the ridge path, heading due west.
Otherwise, continue on the track heading north, then north-east to Pla des Peyres (altitude 1389).
(6) Head north on the track that leads to the antennas.
The last part of the route is off-trail, so if visibility is poor, descend to point 6 and keep right on the road (D421) which leads directly to the car park.
(7) Off-trail cow path. Stay on the eastern ridge with the electricity pylons on your right, then pass underneath them when they veer off to the left. You will need to cut through ferns and broom. Descend gently towards the forest, keeping slightly to the left (the slope is gentler), staying at the edge, then zigzag your way down to join the path you can see below.
(8) Head north, back along the path you took on the way up, to return to the car park (S/E).
