Park in the car park of the Salle Polyvalente, a little way from the centre of the village (there are plenty of parking spaces in the village).
(S/E) Leave the car park by turning left. Follow the road for 100 metres.
(1) Take the path on the left. The path climbs gently above the meadows before arriving at a small road that leads to the hamlet of "Le Mont".
.
(2) As you approach the hamlet, follow the first path on the right (discreet wooden sign: Trou de Chignin La Savoyarde), heading south-southwest. After a slight climb, the path emerges into a pretty valley, which you will cross lengthwise. The path, now a trail, then winds through the woods, first coniferous and then deciduous. On the trail, which alternates between ascents and descents, a few wooden signs and yellow markings indicate the direction to follow.
The forest trail ends with a slightly steeper climb to reach the edge of a meadow (do not enter the meadow). Turn right onto a recently constructed trail that follows the edge of the forest and joins a grassy path near a crossroads.
(3) Head west, enter a large meadow, continue on the path that runs alongside a fence, and arrive at the "Les Combes Sud" intersection
(4) At this intersection, turn left towards Roc de Tormery, Croix de Tormery. The Roc de Tormery is quickly reached via a path through the woods.
(5) At the signpost, turn left and stay on the GRP®. Pass the Croix de Tormery, which is not far away. The trail runs along the ridge before descending into a small valley and crossing a fence. Continue east on theGRP®, the terrain is slightly hilly. You will reach a signpost for "Tapin Ouest". Take the path that climbs to the right; two cable-assisted sections provide access to Tapin (1,202 m). Wider view: Chartreuse, Belledonne, Bauges, including the Pic de la Sauge, which hides the Galoppaz.
After Le Tapin, continue along the trail towards Roche du Guet, which is just over 250 m away as the crow flies. However, the path is neither flat nor straight, and there is a picnic table along the way where you can take a break. La Roche du Guet is reached by a final climb with a cable. Enjoy panoramic views of Belledonne on one side and Les Bauges on the other, this time with Pointe de la Gallopaz visible.
(6) At La Roche du Guet, continue eastwards along the edge of the cliff. The path enters the woods and soon emerges into a large meadow. As you descend, leave the boxwood path that descends to Montmélian on your right (at a place called Gros Mollard). Continuing towards the Col du Mont, the trail passes close to the Rocher de Manettaz: a viewpoint over the Isère valley, well worth a detour. Further on, leave the trail that descends towards Arbin on your right.
(7) Col du Mont 1014m. Go past it and you will reach a junction where you can descend directly to the hamlet of Le Mont or towards the hamlet of Le Lac.
(8) Descend towards the lake, still following the GRP®. When you reach the hamlet, take the road on the left.
(9) Go around the lake, Lac de la Thuile, taking the discovery trail that passes by the car park of the Salle Polyvalente (A/D).
