Route du Rocher des Princes via Les Ventes Bourbon

Park in the car park at the Carrefour du Rocher des Princes, which can be reached by car from the Carrefour de l’Obélisque (Fontainebleau) via the D148.
Preliminary note: the route largely follows the^GR®11, marked in red and white, leaving it at times only to rejoin it a little later.

(S/E) Start by taking the Route du Rocher Besnard. Pass an unnamed path on your left and, a little further on, ignore the Route du Haut Mont on your left. Continue and pass the Route de la Croix du Grand Maître on your right. The path curves to the left. Cross the Route du Puits Fondu and continue until you reach the Route de la Tranchée.

(1) Head south-west by turning left. You’ll reach a junction with Route Biron and Route du Parquet de Montigny; continue along Route de la Tranchée. Cross Route de la Passion and, immediately after the junction, you’ll find Route de la Garenne de Gros Bois.

(2) Turn right onto it and cross the D58. Pass Route du Héron and Route du Rocher Boulin in turn to reach Route de la Grande Mare. Turn right onto this road and you will soon reach the D301.

(3) Cross it carefully and continue straight ahead onto Route du Chevillard. Pass Route Clermont on your left and, a little further on, turn right onto Route de l’Inspecteur Général.
Take care here, as you initially take Route du Vérificateur, which quickly leads to a Fork in the road. Leave Route du Vérificateur on your left and turn right onto Route de l'Inspecteur Général.

(4) Cross Route Hippolyte and continue along Route de l’Inspecteur Général. Head towards the Ventes Bourbon viewpoint.

(5) Turn left at almost 180° and continue along the Route de l’Inspecteur Général, on a straight stretch, to reach the Carrefour du Chevreuil.

(6) Take the^second road on the right, which is Route du Fonds des Mariottes. Join Route de Jemmapes and follow it to the left for about fifty metres. Then take the path on the right to reach Route de Valmy.

(7) Turn right onto it and you will soon reach the junction with Route de la Fanfare.

(8) Turn left onto this road and you will soon reach the Carrefour du Daim. Continue straight on along Route de la Fanfare until you reach the junction with Route de Médicis at the eastern end of the Rocher de Bouligny.

(9) Turn right onto it and stay on this road, ignoring all turn-offs to the right and left, until you reach the junction with Route de Montmorin. As you go, cross the D58, D148 and D301.

(10) Turn right and follow this road to the Rocher des Princes car park (S/E).

A very easy route with little elevation gain, fairly shaded but with a few open sections. Make sure you bring plenty of water in hot weather.
