Starting point: Jardin des Lakas car park.
Yellow PR® signposting
(S/E) With your back to the car park entrance on Rue Joseph Rousse, walk to the far end of the car park, turn right and walk alongside the Jardin des Lakas on your left. Turn right, walk past a small tower and turn left to reach a roundabout near the École Notre-Dame.
Leave the school on your left and turn right onto Chemin de la Piraudière (route VTC2). Walk past the ‘Accueil de la Côte de Jade’ care home on your right.
Continue along this track, which is signposted ‘No Entry’ except for residents. Carry on along this path (signposted ‘VTCE la Prée’) and follow the white track opposite, then turn right onto a track with a grassy strip down the middle.
(1) When you reach a road opposite the old Moulin de la Guerche, turn left onto Route de Renaudière and ride past the campsite on your right.
(2) At the stop sign, take the Chemin des Masses straight ahead and continue along this path, which has a grassy strip down the middle. Ignore the first path on the right and then veer left. Between the fields, the path becomes gravelly and leads to a road opposite a campsite.
(3) Cross the road and continue straight ahead towards the campsites. Pass between the two campsites and follow the small tarmac road, which very quickly turns into a dusty track. Stay on this wide track, which runs alongside private land occupied by caravans or mobile homes.

Leave the ‘Route de la Pré’ (signposted) on your right and continue straight on until the next three-way junction, where you turn left.
(4) Follow this wide path lined with pine trees, which runs alongside well-fenced-off properties and private land. All the paths branching off to the right and left are dotted with ‘private’ signs.
At the next three-way junction before a main road, turn right to reach the sea at Port aux Ânes (picnic tables on the right).

(5) Turn right onto the coastal path (signposted ‘Côte Sauvage de la Prée’) and follow this wide track (it is possible to walk along the foreshore at low tide). Just before La Prée, cross a small footbridge through the reeds to reach a car park.
(6) Continue along the wide, completely flat coastal path heading north-east. It follows the rocky shelf, a haven for birds (gulls and turnstones).
Reach the Marais, where an orientation board helps you get your bearings as you face the open sea. Continue in the same direction and, along the way, you’ll see an anchor – a symbol of the sailors who perished at sea.
(7) You’ll reach La Tara, where there is an analemmatic sundial. You’ll arrive at Port de Gravette (a fishing port specialising in oyster and mussel farming, as well as a marina), sheltered by a long stone breakwater. Pass the Euler buoy situated on a lawn and continue along the sandy path that runs alongside the sea. At Plage du Mouton, leave the seafront and the GR®8.

(8) At the signpost, cross the boulevard at the pedestrian crossing, opposite the house bearing the inscription ‘Maison Andrée’, and take the Chemin des Masseries. Continue straight on and cross a road. Further on, this tree-lined path turns left, becoming the Chemin de Mitière, until it reaches a road.
(9) Opposite the ‘no entry’ sign, go straight ahead, then turn right and immediately left into Rue des Mésanges, which continues as Chemin des Mésanges.
Follow this path, which turns right and becomes the Chemin du Ruau at a junction of paths. You’ll reach the D96 at the Croix Saint-Étienne, visible on the right-hand side by the roadside.
(10) Cross the road and continue straight ahead along Route de la Frenelle; then, opposite a house, turn right to follow Chemin de la Frenelle.
(11) At the junction with Rue des Ajoncs, turn right and continue along this road, which passes in front of the René Cerclé School Complex.
No signposting
(12) When you reach a roundabout, turn left opposite the Tourist Office, go under a porch, go round the church on the right and pass in front of the Grotte de la Vierge (information panel).
Leave the church forecourt on the right and turn left into Rue Pasteur opposite a bar and tobacconist’s.

Turn right onto Chemin des Lakas, which leads to the car park (S/E).
