Start from the Préfailles Beach car park.
(S/E) With your back to the sea, walk 300 m uphill and turn right onto the Grande Rue (take a moment to admire the façade of the bazaar).
(1) Continue along Rue de la Mairie on the left and, at the three-way junction, carry on straight ahead along Rue de la Renaudière. At the three-way junction, keep right and continue straight ahead along the lovely path leading to the Plaine-sur-Mer roundabout.
(2) There, keep to the left, cross the Route de la Pointe Saint-Gildas and take the wide path heading north towards a campsite.
(3) Cross the junction and take the Chemin de la Guerche until you reach a road; follow it to the left and, 300 m further on, turn right onto the Rue de la Guichardière until you reach the Chemin de la Bretonnière.
(4) Follow this shaded path for 300 m, keep left at the three-way junction and, at the next junction, go straight on, cross a road, continue to the houses and, opposite, take the footpath leading to the sea.
(From here, you can see Port de la Gravette and, on a clear day, the Saint-Nazaire bridge).
(5) Continue left onto theGR®®8, walking alongside the sea.
(6) At La Tara, a short break is welcome: with views of the sea and Pointe Saint-Gildas, you’ve already covered about 8 km and the path continues along the coast.
(7) Pass La Prée and carry on through Port aux Ânes. At a place called l’Épinette, keep to the right and continue towards the harbour at Pointe de Saint-Gildas.
(8) Continue along the coastal path which skirts this headland, where a semaphore tower stands, and follow the Corniche de la Hutte to reach the car park (S/E).
