Description of the walk

Yellow markings

(S/E) The route starts from the hiking information board at Place de la Bascule, on the corner of Rue du Presbytère in Beauregard.
With your back to the sign, use the church bell tower as a landmark and cross Route du Val de Crempse to reach the start of the route, which continues along Chemin Belli Gardi. Opposite the cemetery gate, turn right and join Route de la Cabane. Please note: a sign reads “Fon des Anglais”. This is the path continuing opposite, leading to thefirst fountain: the Fontaine des Anglais, situated at the entrance to house no. 226, 30 metres from the road.
After seeing this fountain, return to the road and turn right for about 400 metres.

(1) Leave the road before the pond and take the path on the right. You will immediately come to thesecond fountain: Fontaine de la Grenouille. Continue along the path, under the power line. At the end of the path, turn right and follow the forest track to Route del Castang. Follow it to the right for about 80 metres and enter the forest again on the right.

(2) When you reach the road again, turn right. At the junction of the tarmac roads, turn left (west). After 100 m, take the path on the right into the forest. Pass through the hamlets of Monfaucon and Le Perrier via the Chemin du Cluzeau to reach the Chemin de la Garenne.

(3) Cross over and continue along the path, which leads immediately, after 50 m on the right, to thethird fountain: Fontaine du Perrier. Continue, cross the farmyard and turn right at the metal shed. At the Route du Pech (elevation 189), turn right and head down to the D38. Turn left onto it for 50 metres to reach thefourth fountain on the left: Fontaine de la Souille.

(4) Retrace your steps and turn left towards La Rebière. After the pond, turn left at the second path towards Moulin de la Souille and walk 400 m. Note: do not miss the path on the right that climbs towards the cliff. Climb the log steps to reach thefifth fountain: Fontaine des Fontanelles.

(5) Then follow the stream until you reach the edge of the forest, where the6th fountain appears: Fontaine des Mazeaux, just before the road and at the edge of the cow pasture. The greenery hides this spring well.
Cross the road and follow the path along the fields and the edge of the forest to the DFCI track.

(6) Turn right onto this track running parallel to the N 21. After 600 m, the7th fountain appears on the right: Fontaine du Chauffour. Continue uphill to the Route du Tertre Rouge.

(7) Turn right and continue to Bassac. Please note: at the entrance to the village, do not miss the signpost on the left, set in a copse.

(8) Turn left onto the Chemin de la Vierge Noire, passing in front of the Chapel (well worth a visit). At the end of the path, opposite No. 1114, turn left, pass in front of the Puits de Bassac and head for the next road junction.

(9) Please note: the signpost under a tree and the direction of the signs can be confusing. Take the Chemin du Dolmen on the right for 1 km.

(10) Take the path on the right leading to the Peyrelevade Dolmen and enter the forest. Shortly afterwards, the dolmen site appears on your right. Continue on to the road. Follow it to the right, until you reach the next crossroads, which you should not cross.

(11) A discreet path on the left before the junction climbs up between the trees and houses. This takes you back to the starting point (S/E).

Well done on marking out this lovely walk – it’s clearly signposted, so it’s impossible to get lost. The route follows quiet country lanes and a well-maintained path through meadows and woods.

A pleasant walk from fountain to fountain, the most beautiful being the Fontanelles fountain, which is well worth the climb!

A lovely walk.
The route guidance, via the track, Visorando details and signposting, is very good.
However, the chapel and the church were closed.
