The walk starts from the village of Montenach; the car park is on Rue des Ponts on the left.
Follow the Yellow Rectangle signposts.
(S/E) Walk through the village of Montenach and turn right to head up the Route de Sierck to the D956.
Turn left and cross the bridge.
(1) After the bridge, take the forest track on the right; follow this track, which will take you up to the hills of the Sierck area.
(2) As you emerge from the forest, turn right onto the path through the fields, then follow the small country road to the right towards the hamlet of Koenigsberg.
(3) Pass through this hamlet with its magnificent houses. At the junction, take the forest road on the right and continue straight on.
(4) When you reach the mast, take the path on the right leading into the forest. At the 283-metre mark, turn left and continue to the junction with the Alterberg path.
(5) Take the path on the right which leads back down, passing a secondary school.
(6) At the junction, turn left and continue to follow the Yellow Rectangle along Rue de Bellevue. Take the first street on the right and head down towards the post office.
At the post office, follow the D654 to the right for about twenty metres, then take Rue de la Tour d’Horloge, also on the right.
Pass the town hall on your left and turn right onto Rue du Cardinal Billot.
(7) At the signpost behind Sierck Castle, go straight on up Rue du Cardinal Billot, then turn left onto Rue de Marienfloss, which continues as a forest track.
(8) Do not cross the stream, but follow the forest path that runs alongside it, lined with strange quartzite rocks.
Information boards are placed along the banks of the stream to help you learn more about the quartzite formations and the surrounding natural environment.
After leaving the banks of the stream and climbing the steps along the forest track, you’ll reach the D956.
(9) Follow it to the left, then turn right. Follow the GR®5 (marked in white and red), which turns right towards Montenach. Walk through the village and return to the starting point (S/E).
