Description of the walk

Starting point in front of the Koenigsmacker sports hall, Rue du Stade.

(S/E) Set off along Rue du Stade (D2) to the left and continue to the end of the street, where you’ll reach a T-junction.

(1) Turn right, following the signs for Metrich. Please note: when passing through the village, observe the highway code.

(2) Take the first left onto Rue du Moulin. When you reach the bridge, take the road on the right, then, immediately afterwards, before passing under a road, turn onto the path on the right. Carry on straight ahead, ignoring a turn-off to the right, until you reach a junction at the corner of a pond.

(3) Turn left. You will be walking alongside private ponds with unsecured banks, keeping to the left of them. Please stay on the marked paths.

(4) At the end of the last pond, at the junction, carry on straight ahead, slightly below a busy road on your left. Turn onto the first grassy path on the right, which is not shown on maps. Further on, this joins the end of a street; follow it straight ahead until you reach the Stop sign.

(5) Turn right onto the D62, then take the second street on the right, Rue des Écoles. At the end of the street, turn right onto Rue de Trèves and follow this road straight on (a busy road but with a pavement) until you return to the village.

(6) Turn into the second street on the left, Rue de la Côte. At the junction, turn left, then head towards Saint-Martin’s Church (16th century), which you’ll go round on the left. Go straight on at the crossroads, then turn right into Rue des Nouveaux Jardins, going against the one-way system.

(7) At the end of the street, turn left, then take the first street on the right, and keep left at the Fork in the road. Take a path on the left, near an electricity substation. Further on, follow the path as it curves to the right to join Rue de Lavausseau. (Optional: about 150 m down the street on the right, there is a sculpture of a horse with children). Carry on straight ahead, ignoring a dead end on the right, then first turn right then left to find yourself facing the car park, on the other side of Rue D2 (S/E).
