Access: from the village of Plouézec, head towards Port-Lazo via the D77 and park in this car park.
GR® 34 marked in white and red.
(S/E) Head to the back of the car park, take the stairs on the left to join the GR®34 and follow the path until you reach a road
and turn left towards Pointe de Plouézec or Bilfot. Reach a road.
Follow the road to the left to reach the headland (orientation table and magnificent view of the islets of Grand Mez de Goëlo). From up there, you can see the next headland, Minard. A monument serves as a reminder that this place is also steeped in history (the actions of British commandos on the night of 11–12 November 1942 as part of ‘Operation Fahrenheit’).
(3) Turn around and head back along the road to the junction.
Continue along this road, past a car park, until you reach the coastal path on the left.
Turn left onto this path which runs along the cliff towards the small pebble beach at Porzh Donan, which you’ll spot fairly quickly. To get there, you’ll need to descend a very long and rather steep flight of steps—I’ve forgotten exactly how many there are. Make the most of a break here, as you’ll have to climb back up.
(4) Cross the stream and climb back up the cliff via the long staircase, similar to the one you descended, continue along the top of the cliff and join a wide path which you take to the left. Continue towards Pointe de Minard, which overlooks the sea from a height of 70 metres. At the road, near a car park, turn left to reach the viewpoint at the top of this headland.
(5) Set off again along the road, pass the small car park and continue along this coastal road until you reach a path on the right, leading into the moorland.
No signposting.
(6) Leave theGR®®34and take this path, which turns left at a right angle, climbing steadily towards the hamlet of Minard.
PR® yellow markings
Turn right before the hamlet onto a downhill path, then turn left at the single house. Walk for about a hundred metres, then turn right onto a small path that descends into the Porz Donan valley.
(6) Cross the stream, climb up the other side and continue to join a small road at Run Dans.
No signposting.
Continue left, due west, and at the Porz Loaz bend, turn right towards the Route des Islandais.
(8) Follow it to the right for a few metres, then take thefirst street on the left, which continues as a path. At the end, take a sharp left-hand bend and arrive at a junction.
(9) Take thesecond right, Rue de la Chapelle Saint-Riom, for about a hundred metres, then turn right to reach the chapel.
(10) Retrace your steps and turn left onto the street.
(9) At the junction, turn left and follow this road, known as the Cap Horn, to the end, passing a campsite on your left, until you reach the Porz Lazo car park (S/E).
