At Guillestre, take the Route du Queyras (D947), pass through Château Queyras, continue to the Ville Vieille junction and park in the large car park at the Maison de l’Artisanat.
(S/E) Continue along the D947 for a few metres towards Château Queyras to reach the start of the nature trail (known as the ‘Sentier des Astragales’).
(1) Take the path on the right and, at the first hairpin bend (signposted), turn left. Continue climbing north-westwards until you reach the first hamlet, Meyries.
(2). Walk through the hamlet and, at the crossroads on the way out, take the wide track on the left (GR®58A, marked in white and red). After 2 km, you will reach the small hamlet of Rouet.
(3) Leave theGR® on your right and take the path heading due south. Pass through the place known as Eyssartou to join a new path. Turn left heading east for about 150 metres to reach another junction.
(4) Turn right onto the south-bound path again, which winds its way up through numerous hairpin bends to Château Queyras.
(5) Walk down through the narrow streets to the bridge over the Guil.
(6) Cross the Guil and, as you leave the bridge, turn left onto the track running alongside the Guil, which leads to Ville Vieille.
(7) Cross the Guil again via the bridge, and follow the road carefully to return to the car park (S/E).
