Coming from the D41, park at Grande Jeanne in the car park on the other side of the road from the animal park. You will need to walk down an access ramp for about 100 metres. Grande Jeanne marker, lower car park.
Yellow markings
(S/E) Head towards the bottom of the car park, in the direction of Letraz, to begin a long descent towards the lake. Ignore the return path immediately on your right. At the next intersection, keep to the right. At the Superpanorama marker, follow the signs for Letraz. Go through a wooden barrier. At the Bois Brulé marker, continue to follow the signs for Letraz. Ignore the side paths and continue to the intersection of several paths at the Forêt des Espagnoux marker.
(1) Continue towards Letraz. You will reach a road; follow it to the right. At the Chuguet le Haut signpost, turn left towards Sevrier. Cross the road, continue on the path opposite and you will come to another road at the Chuguet signpost.
(2) Follow the signs for Annecy via Beau Rivage, but to avoid taking the greenway straight away, walk a few metres to the right to take the path that descends to the riverbank and then turn left. Further on, when you reach a sign saying Impasse, you will need to return to the greenway, part of which is reserved for pedestrians. At the Les Borenges signpost, follow the signs for Annecy to the right. The greenway runs close to the road.
(3) At the Beau Rivage signpost, follow the greenway towards Annecy, on the pedestrian area. The path runs more or less close to the road and some sections are less pleasant than others. On this section, the best option is to quicken your pace.
(4) Continue along the Cheltenham Promenade, passing between the lake and the water sports centre, then along the harbour. Then turn right to stay as close as possible to the lake and reach the Pont de la Halle bridge.
(5) Cross the Thiou and immediately turn right to walk around the Jardins de l'Europe (sculptures). Pass in front of the statue of Berthollet facing Île des Cygnes. On the other side of this peninsula, cross the Vassé on a footbridge.
No signposts
(6) On the other side of the footbridge, turn left to walk along the Vassé, go to the bridge and cross the canal again. On the other side, return to the other bank, cross the Quai Eustache Chapuis at the traffic lights and turn right in front of the bell tower of the Church of Saint-Maurice, Rue Camille Dunant, on the banks of the Canal Saint-Dominique. Cross Rue Joseph Blanc and you will arrive at a branch of the canal, with wooden houses on the right bank. Follow the alleyway towards Rue de la Filarerie to reach this street.
Turn right to arrive at the square in front of Notre-Dame Cathedral, with its beautiful fountain. After visiting the interior, if you wish, follow Quai de la Cathédrale, which runs along the canal on the south side of the cathedral, take the footbridge and turn left to continue along the canal, on your left, via Quai Madame de Warens.
Cross Rue de la République and continue opposite Quai des Cordeliers. You will arrive at the Rue de la Gare bridge.
(7) Take the bridge to cross the Thiou and turn immediately left to return towards the lake, Quai des Clarisses. Turn left onto Rue de la République to cross the Thiou and immediately turn right onto Quai de l'Évêché, with the canal on your right. Take the next footbridge and join Rue Sainte-Claire, turn left and then left again at the next street to cross the Thiou again on Pont Morens.
Continue to the right and take the next footbridge, cross the island, then the footbridge over the second arm of the Thiou and join Rue de l'Île. Cross over to climb up opposite, slightly to the right, via Rampe du Château. At the top, pass in front of the castle entrance, leave the car park on your right and continue along Rue de la Tour la Reine.
Leave two streets on your left as Rue de la Tour la Reine turns right, reach a roundabout and go around it on the right to take Avenue de la Visitation opposite, towards the monastery of the same name. Before the street turns, take the stairs that go straight up and lead to the church square.
(8) After visiting, if you wish, go back down the stairs and turn right onto the street. At the bend, turn right onto the path that runs along the high wall of the monastery grounds. Then climb a series of steps to reach a crossroads at the entrance to a campsite. Take the path that climbs opposite. At the next intersection, you will see yellow markings.

(9) Continue straight ahead, passing a sign for Blocs Erratiques further on. When you see a road, stay on the path closest to the road, keeping to the left so as not to follow the path, also marked in yellow, which descends further to the right. When you reach the Belvédère du Pas de l'Échelle viewpoint, marked with a sign of the same name, continue towards the Belvédère de la Grande Jeanne viewpoint. Go straight ahead at the Sentier de l'Échelle sign and you will reach the Belvédère de la Grande Jeanne viewpoint.
No markings
(10) Turn left onto the path that descends to the left of the antenna. Ignore all side paths, cross the road and continue down the path opposite. Turn onto the first path on the left, at the Chemin du Belvédère sign. At the next intersection, go straight ahead to reach the car park at the bottom of Grande Jeanne (S/E).
