Description of the walk

Park in the Fontaine de Bale car park.

(S/E) From the car park, walk up the street on the left, passing in front of the fountain. Then turn left onto Rue du Maréchal Leclerc (D821). At the junction, turn left down Rue de l’École. Then, at the bend, take the pedestrian crossing on the right. At the end, take Rue des Vergers and continue straight on until you reach the end.

(1) Then turn right onto Rue du Maréchal Leclerc, then left onto Rue du Schauenberg, passing a wayside cross. Continue along the street, past the oratory, then leave the village briefly to enjoy a panoramic view of Notre-Dame du Schauenberg, Gueberschwihr, Voegtlinshoffen and the Three Castles of Eguisheim.

(2) Turn back and head to the end of the road. Then turn left onto Rue du Maréchal Leclerc (D821) and head back to the junction you passed on the way out. Turn left and head up Rue du Fossé. When you reach Rue des Seigneurs, turn left, pass an oratory and you’ll come to a wayside cross (on private property) and a cultural information board about the Hatschbourg Grand Cru.

(3) Turn back to the junction and continue straight ahead along Rue des Seigneurs. Keep going straight ahead, passing the well dating from 1550, until you reach the Sainte-Colombe Fountain.

(4) Turn back and keep to the right onto Rue du Bourgrain. This time, walk to the right of the well, then past Saint-Colombe Church and the cemetery. Just at the entrance to the cemetery, take the footpath that runs alongside it and leads to the junction of Rue Ackerhof and Rue du Raison. Keep to the right on Rue du Raison and continue straight on until you reach a small park.

(5) Take a brief detour through the park, then, as you come out, turn into the second street on the left, Rue du Maréchal Leclerc, and immediately turn left onto Rue du Buchnackerweg. At the end, keep right onto Impasse de la Lauch, and, after the bend, turn right. At the end, turn right onto Rue des Champs to reach the town hall and the war memorial. Then keep to the left to return to the car park and the fountain (S/E).
