Park in the car park at the town hall in the centre of the village of Bourdeau.
(S/E) Turn left and descend the road towards the lake. At the first hairpin bend, leave the road and take the path on the left.
(1) Follow this trail for 2 km, crossing several scree slopes. After one of them, look for the trail that climbs steeply to the left, marked by a small cairn on the left.
(2) Take the winding path (not marked on the IGN map) up the wooded slope, then reach a meadow and come out onto a track.
(3) Turn right onto a barely visible path to make a round trip to Notre-Dame de l'Étoile and enjoy the view.
(4) Return to the previous fork.
(3) On your return, continue left on the path to rejoin the D914 road.
(5) Cross the road and take the path that climbs up to the village of La Chapelle-du-Mont-du-Chat. Cross the village and, at the exit, take the path on the left.
(6) Take this path and, at the first intersection 150 metres further on, turn left and continue through the forest for a long time until you reach the Col du Chat.
(7) Turn left and descend along the road to the entrance to the hamlet of Col du Chat. Then take a path on the right.
(8) Descend to the right along the path. Pass a hairpin bend on the road to the pass, then follow it for 250 m and rejoin the path. Cross the road and you will arrive near the hamlet of Les Bégets.
(9) Take the path on the left that leads to the hamlet. When you reach the road, turn right and take a path that leads to Bourdeau opposite a wash house. Continue left and join the Route du Grand Chemin, then the Route du Port and head downhill towards the car park (S/E).
19/09/2023 Message from the moderator: the section between (2) and (3) is very steep and slippery on the way up and requires a good level of fitness for around 500 m. Some sections between (8) and (9) are also slippery on the way down. This route should be attempted in dry weather. Not recommended for young children.
