In Vandoncourt, follow the signs for“La Damassine” to reach the start of the walk.
From the bottom of the car park, past a plant room, the walking route is marked with a small ‘Prune Bleue’ symbol.(a)
(S/E) Begin the descent down Rue des Aiges. At the second uphill street on the right, temporarily leave the marked route to reach the fountain. Continue left along Rue Sous Fresnois and pass in front of the Temple. At the next junction, rejoin the marked route and cross at the corner of a former factory that has been converted into a village hall. Walk down Rue des Damas to the right of this building and continue to the lime-tree roundabout.
(1) Carry on straight ahead, keeping slightly to the left, towards the Pont Sarrazin via the street of the same name. GRP®®.
At the junction by the small fountain and washhouse, turn right.
On leaving the village, carry on along the tarmac road leading to La Cachette, then take the stony path that climbs into the forest.
(2) From the Sarrazin Bridge (b), climb back up to the plateau via a short, winding path.
Turn left until you reach a timber landing, then continue to the right along a shaded path.
At the Édouard Montavon Monument (c), walk up the hillside to the farm track. Turn left and carry on straight ahead until, after passing a removable barrier, you reach the Abbévillers road. Turn left towards the orientation table.
(3) Walk straight down across the lawn towards the football pitch. Go round it to the right along the downhill path. At the next junction of paths, turn right and follow the shaded path to the village entrance. Walk down Rue d’Abbévillers, on the left, to the town hall and school.
(4) Opposite the town hall, take Rue de l’Étang. Continue to number 23 and climb the hill on the left to reach Rue des Aiges and the car park. (A/D)
