Parking at Place du Treil in Fanjeaux.
Yellow markings.
(S/E) With your back to the Tourist Office, turn left and walk past the café. At the crossroads by the bridge, continue straight ahead along Rue de la Calinière. After the last house at the foot of the hill, take the small path down to the right. At the gardens, turn left.
(1) Take the road that descends to the right. Just before the D802, turn left onto the path and descend straight ahead towards the countryside. At the four-way intersection, go straight ahead and at the fork, keep right to pass in front of the Croix du Sicaire.
(2) At the end of the path, follow the road to the left, then at the junction with the other road that goes up to Fanjeaux (RD119), cross over to the other side (watch out for traffic). Walk on the right-hand side of the road towards the roundabout, which you take to the right to exit towards Montréal (watch out for traffic): take the RD119 for about 200 metres.
(3) Leave the D119 to the right towards Saint-Dominique. After 300 metres, turn left towards Monplaisir, then continue straight on towards Blanchard: the small road is a dead end until you reach the hamlet and offers beautiful views of the Blanchard reservoir.
(4) At the Blanchard farm, take the path on the right and continue straight up the grassy path. At the top, take the small road to the left. After about 700 metres, turn left.
(5) Turn left again onto a dirt track towards a wood. At the edge of the wood, turn left: you will see the Blanchard reservoir from above before descending into the vineyards.
(6) At the bottom, turn right onto the stony path for 200 metres, then turn left onto the road lined with plane trees.
(7) Cross the D626 (watch out for traffic) and then the truck manoeuvring area and take the path between the trees. In front of the farm, take the path on the right that runs alongside the Ruisseau de la Fontvieille stream. After 300 m, past the vineyards and level with the small pond, turn left onto the grassy path, then turn left again about 60 m further on.
(8) Turn right onto the stony path, following the alternative route (indicated by a sign) to Chemin de Saint-Dominique. The path on the left leads to Montréal for the full 30 km route. Pass through the Saint-Étienne farm to reach the Lasserre-de-Prouille cemetery.
(9) Turn right towards the village. Cross the D623, go up the Grand Rue along the vineyard and enter the village via the Place de la Poste.
(10) Head up towards the medieval gate and, inside the circular village, turn left and then left again at the church onto Rue Saint-Étienne. Back on Grand Rue, turn right onto Rue du Presbytère and then left onto Rue du Marin. At the bottom, on Rue Notre Dame, turn right and follow the small road straight ahead (Chemin de Brezilhac).
(11) After about 1 km and after the left-hand bend (ignore the first paths on the right), turn right onto theGR®®78and follow the pilgrims' route to Santiago de Compostela until you reach Fanjeaux. Climb up to the wooded hill.
(12) After the gentle descent, turn left and enjoy the view towards Fanjeaux. At the next crossroads, turn right twice to keep Fanjeaux in sight and descend towards Saint-Martin.
(13) At the end of the path, follow the small road to the left, then take the D 119 to the left for 100 m. Finally, go up the first path on the left.
(14) At the top, follow the small road to the right which takes you back to the village of Fanjeaux via Chemin du Moulin, the bridge and Place du Treil, the starting point of the hike (S/E).
