Park in the car park at the entrance to the hamlet of Brédevant.
(S/E) Start by going through the green metal gate, then follow the path straight ahead as it climbs steadily. When you come to a curved path, turn right and go uphill, then a few metres further on, turn left. Leave the wide path on your right that goes around Mount Luisandre.
(1) Take the path that climbs up to the right. It will lead you to some antennas in a clearing.
(2) Opposite you are the ruins of the old castle of Luisandre, dominated by a large cross. Go around the remains of the moat on the left and follow the path. After a clearing, which is used as a take-off point for paragliders and offers a beautiful view of Ambérieu and the Château des Allymes, the path descends quite steeply to the carriage road.
(3) At the crossroads, take the path to the left. It will lead you to the barns of Luisandre. At the intersection, turn right and continue down what has become a small road.
(4) At a bend, as the road enters the forest, leave it and take the path on the right. This will take you along a pretty route on the side of the valley to the hamlet of Morgelas.
(5) Ignore the road that descends to the left and continue straight ahead, following the back of the houses. Soon, a path climbs up to the right, along the forest. Take it. It winds through the undergrowth and then, at a bend, opens onto a large clearing. It crosses a small stream, where you re-enter the undergrowth.
(6) A few dozen metres after the stream, on your right, a recent path, hidden by tall grass depending on the season, climbs steeply into the forest. Take it, ignoring the fluorescent pink markings. It winds through fairly wild undergrowth. The passage may be obstructed by fallen trees or branches.
(7) Continue along this fairly well-marked trail (fluorescent pink markings in this area). After about 500 metres, the trail turns sharply to the left and climbs very steeply up the thalweg on the left side of the valley. You will then reach a small pass between the two valleys. Take the trail that descends in front of you.
The path continues downhill and leads you to the road.
(8) You will now enter a less wild area, following the small road. Note the pretty tower at a place called La Parisette. Pass through the pretty village of Angrières, which is full of flowers. There is a beautiful wash house with an oven and a fountain (drinking water not confirmed).
(9) About a kilometre after leaving the village, after the small sewage treatment plant, take the path that climbs through the woods on the right.
(10) After about 15 minutes, you will see a path leading off to the right. Take it. Winding through woods and clearings, it will lead you to a crossroads.
(11) Ignore the paths that descend to the left in front of you and take the stony, fairly steep path that climbs to the right. After about 500 metres, the climb becomes less steep and you will pass under a high-voltage power line. Continue straight ahead through the forest, with conifers on your left and deciduous trees on your right, gradually descending.
(12) At a crossroads with five paths (including the one you came from). Take the second one, counting clockwise, almost opposite. At the end of summer 2019, the path (marked in yellow) was almost hidden by vegetation. The path, still in the forest, descends gradually, becoming steeper. At the edge of the forest, you will come to a more clearly marked path.
(13) Take this path to the right and continue to the hamlet of Les Allymes.
(14) Pass the chapel and the war memorial on your left. After a house on the right side of the road and before the cemetery, a path branches off to the right. It climbs into the forest, crosses the road leading up to the castle, and, after a fairly steep climb, takes you to the castle.
To return to the car park, leave the castle on your left and continue along the stony path that leads to Brédevant (S/E).
