Cascades de la Pleureuse et de la Sauffaz walks

A very beautiful hike starting from Le Lignon in a magnificent setting (Passy - Haut-Giffre nature reserve). Depending on the season in which you do this hike, take into account the crossing of several snowfields (very late in 2013) and numerous streams that "cut" the path.

This route presents no difficulties other than the distance and elevation gain, and can be completed in one go by well-trained hikers. The route is fully signposted and can be completed in its entirety by following the directions on the signs and markings (a little more difficult when the "high" part is snow-covered, as it was during our last hike :-) ).

Beautiful climbs and pretty waterfalls, with panoramic views over the Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval valley.

A magnificent ascent via the Sales Refuge. After passing close to the Pleureuse, Sauffaz, Sales and Trainant waterfalls, the Sales valley offers us bucolic landscapes that contrast with the harshness of the surrounding peaks. It's like being in a Snow White cartoon... or, more to my taste, Shrek. The rest of the route, no less remarkable, will lead us to a breathtaking panorama...

A superb four-day hike, with lakes, waterfalls, ladders, ibex, marmots and magnificent panoramic views, particularly of Mont Blanc, located 15 km away.

A very beautiful, long hike from which you can admire various magnificent waterfalls, the Plaine du Grand Pré, the Fiz, the Lacs de Laouchets, the Désert de Platé, and the Mont Blanc range from the Dérochoir. A long hike with no technical difficulties or exposed sections.

Descend into the Gorges de Sales and pass by the foot of magnificent waterfalls.

I invite you to tackle the Tour des Fiz, a route of considerable length with a significant elevation gain.Along the way, you’ll be treated to magnificent and varied scenery throughout this hike.Please note, you will encounter a difficult section during the ascent of the Passage du Dérochoir (6): the cliff face is fairly well-equipped but requires a degree of caution, particularly as it is quite exposed.

A beautiful hike through the Sixt-Passy Nature Reserve to Chamonix, climbing the Col d’Anterne and the Col du Brévent. A very long hike that can be done in a day or over several days, staying at the Moëde Anterne or Alfred Wills mountain huts.

A journey through water and stone! The water of the four waterfalls along the route and that of the two Laouchets lakes. The stone of the Désert de Platé, at the foot of which the two lakes lie.

The Grande Traversée des Alpes (GTA) mainly follows the GR®5, with a few possible variations such as the crossing of the Haute Vanoise via the GR®55 and the Via Alpina, which this route takes instead of the GR®5 route via the Col de l’Iseran. It crosses the French Alps from north to south, from Saint-Gingolph to Nice. The guide includes web links to the many accommodation options along the route or nearby: mountain huts, lodges, campsites, cabins and shelters, excluding hotels. Although this guidebook details the GTA as a three-week trek, it can be adapted to suit your own pace, with stages of varying lengths, either completed in one go or in sections over several years. Itinéraire de la traversée des Alpes. Départ du beau village de Samoens par les anciennes gorges du Giffre pour rejoindre le Massif des Fiz en faisant la longue ascension du Col d'Anterne (royaume des marmottes). Très belle étape variée (cascades, lac, alpages et vue exceptionnelle sur le Massif du Mont Blanc et des Aiguilles Rouges).

This fourth stage crosses the Giffre massif to reach the Anterne Refuge, situated in a magnificent setting at the foot of the impressive Fiz cliff face. From the Refuge de la Golèse, the GR®5 descends into the Clévieux valley (south-east), passing the Chavonnes chalets and then the hamlet of Les Allamands, where it joins the road. It runs alongside the road and follows it as far as Les Moulins, where it follows the left bank of the Clévieux and crosses through Samoëns. On leaving the town, it follows the Giffre upstream, first on the right bank then the left, before leaving the river to follow its tributary, the Giffre des Fonds. The GR®5 crosses it at the Pont des Nants and again at the Pont de Sales, before climbing up to the hamlets of Fardelay and Lignon and entering the Torrent de Sales valley. At the Pleureuse waterfall, it leaves this valley to head north-east, pass the small pass of Anterne and descend to the Anterne stream before climbing up to the Anterne Refuge.
