Gour des Chevaux Waterfall

Very pretty waterfall on the Burande stream, just south of La Tour-d'Auvergne. Another beautiful waterfall nearby, see the "Things to see" section.

Description of the walk

On the D203, leaving La Tour-d'Auvergne and heading towards Chastreix, cross the bridge over the Burande, then continue for about 350 m and turn left onto a small road signposted Cascade du Gour des Chevaux, just after a campsite. Leave your vehicle at the end of the tarmac road.

(S/E) Follow the path that leads to the waterfall site on the Burande.

(1) Retrace your steps to return to the car park (S/E).

Cascade Sainte-Élisabeth, another beautiful site on the same stream: Back at the car, take the D203 towards La Tour-d'Auvergne for about 350 m, then turn onto the second road on the left, just before the bridge. Shortly afterwards, leave your car near a rubbish bin and a picnic table at the Sainte-Élisabeth Waterfall site.
Please boycott La Chauderie campsite, whose owners have refused access along the stream that could have connected the two waterfalls. In any case, it is very noisy. Another, much more pleasant campsite is located 600 metres away.
