From Chastreix, take the D615 (towards La Tour d'Auvergne) then the D203 50 m to the right (avoid parking here) and continue along the road for about 200 m. On the left, take a small road towards Laty, Orbevialle and La Martine. About 100 m further on, you will find a car park on a piece of wasteland on the right.
_(S/E_) __Go back down the D203 for 100 metres_. On your right, a sign indicates the start of the route marked Pont Gaulois (yellow signposts): follow this path for about 300 metres.
(1) You will arrive at the Gallic bridge, a listed archaeological structure. Retrace your steps for 50 metres, then follow the path along the stream. Take the path on the left, pass by a residence, then, about 500 metres further on, you will find a sign pointing to the shepherd's hut.
(2) Follow the fence for 200 metres, then pass the wall on your right. You have arrived (a former shelter for shepherds). Retrace your steps to the sign indicating the hut.
(2) Climb up opposite towards the Pas du Diable, a fairly steep climb. Further on, follow the sign for the Pas du Diable on the left.
(3) Rock with a footprint: the Pas du Diable. View of the Sancy. Retrace your steps for 80 metres to the sign for "Pas du Diable" then continue climbing to the left. Enter a fir forest. At the edge, turn right. Pass by a ruin, continue along the marked path, then pass by a house in a place called Lachaux. Arrive at a place called Les Garneires.
(4) Take the tarmac road. On the left, you will see a metal cross and, 50 metres further down, a magnificent waterfall (plans are underway to build a footbridge). Continue along the road. Pass near the place called La Martine, then immediately afterwards, on the left, take the small path. Continue for about 900 metres. Pass near the place called La Grangeoune, then the path turns right.
(5) On the side of the path, note the old drinking troughs. About 80 metres further on, you will come to a tarmac road. Follow it to the left until you reach the car park (S/E).

After 2 km into stage 3, we lost our way and couldn't find it, even though we were on the right track.
