Start from Place Charles de Gaulle (central square) in Pleyben.
Yellow markings
(S/E) From the square, head towards the parish enclosure; enter to the right of the majestic calvary dating fromthe second quarter of the 17th century, then turn left towards the 15th-century ossuary, the oldest in Finistère as a building separate from the church and now a small museum of local traditions. Head to the 16th-century Saint-Germain Church and walk around it. Of course, a visit is a must as it is usually open. Exit onto Rue de l'Église, then turn left to walk past the ‘Arvest’ theatre and the cemetery, arriving at a three-way junction.
(1) Turn right to cross the hamlet of Moulin du Chantre, a former mill that underwent industrial development as a flour mill. At the exit, turn right to reach the old railway line that linked Carhaix to Châteaulin.
(2) Turn left, follow this track for about 500 m and look out for a path on the left.
(3) Follow this path downwards until it crosses a small road. Cross the road and take the sunken path leading to the Chapel of Saint-Laurent, with its calvary and fountain within the enclosure. Take the path leading uphill to the left of the chapel, join the access road to the Rozalguen farm, then turn right to rejoin the road you crossed earlier and follow it to the left for a few metres.
(4) Take a path on the right which climbs through the woods onto the old railway line; follow this to the left until you reach the road at the Penguili Vihan farm. At the next three-way junction, turn north to reach the hamlet of Lezlac’h.
(5) Turn right, cross the hamlet and continue along a path that descends into a small valley, then climbs back up towards the hamlet of Gazellien, ignoring the side paths. At the houses, continue along their access road to a junction near a transformer.
(6) Turn right and follow the road to the junction with the old railway line.
(2) Turn left and follow this road eastwards for about 1 km.
(7) Leave the railway line, turn right before reaching the old station and, via a small path, join Rue des Écoles, which you follow up to the right. At the junction with the main street, Rue de la Gare, continue straight on, skirting the parish churchyard, and you will reach the car park (S/E).
