Hourquet hut at the start of the Aydius route

Before Aydius, head towards Bain de Chichit, then cross the bridge and climb the hairpin bend. Parking available at the TV relay mast.

(S/E) Pass by the base of the mast and continue along the fence until you reach a junction with a track.

(1) Cross the track and continue straight ahead along a sunken path between the meadows.

(2) Head left to cross the meadow on a flat stretch, passing between the Esquire barn on your left and the Gradiou barn on your right. Reach a junction near the latter.

(3) Cross the track and continue straight ahead, slightly uphill. You will reach the park signpost.

(4) Turn right and head straight on, following the track easily, then a good path called the Sentier du Bas de Hourquet, to the Cabane de Hourquet.

(5) Climb slightly above the hut to join the Sentier du Haut de Hourquet. Turn left and follow this path, which crosses a valley, then descends to a pass.

(6) Follow the ridge to the right to reach the summit of Tacha (1408 m).

(7) Descend back to the pass.

(6) Continue along the path marked by a few signposts and return to the junction you passed on the way up.

(4) Turn left and retrace your steps along the ascent route to return to the car park (S/E).
