Classic departure from the Pas de Peyruis car park on the D480 a few kilometres after Saint-Zacharie.
(S/E) Take thePR® trail, which is a wide track towards La Taurelle. After about 800 metres, leave the path opposite that leads to La Taurelle and continue to the left for about 400 metres until you reach a fork.
(1) Turn right at this junction, then left 300 metres further on. Continue along this well-marked path, ignoring the paths branching off to the right, until you reach another fork where the path turns south-west.
(2) At this fork, go completely left to the northeast, then once you reach a track, turn immediately right to start following the left bank of the Huveaune a few dozen metres further on, taking a path that follows it.
Further up, admire some beautiful pools, which unfortunately are not very full at the moment. The path is well marked and leads to the Huveaune Springs.
(3) Continue a little further up and then cross a few barely submerged rocks. This is where a steep climb begins on a winding path that is sometimes not very well marked, but you can't go wrong (path visible on OpenMap). This will take you to the path on the right that leads to the Grotte de Castelette.
(4) You can explore the cave for a few dozen metres. Leave the cave and rejoin the path you left earlier. Continue to the right, towards the east, on this path which connects the Sainte-Baume plateau tothe GR®9. After a few hundred metres, you will come to a T-junction.
(5) Go down to the left. Pass by the Sources de l'Huveaune and enjoy the coolness of the undergrowth. Continue north until you reach a T-junction.
(6) Go down to the left and join theGR®9trail. Turn left for about 200 metres.
(7) Take a path going up to the right. Follow it for 1,200 metres through the forest. You will arrive at a track at the edge of the forest.
(8) Descend completely to the left, along the edge towards the hamlet of La Mantelette. It is surrounded by olive groves of varying degrees of maintenance with a few ruins of old farms. Follow the trail down to the junction with a path coming from the left.
(9) Follow theGR®9to the right, then, 100 m further on, turn left and cross the Huveaune riverbed via a small bridge.
(10) On the left, rejoin thePR® trail taken at the start of the hike until you reach the fork in the trail.
(1) Take the same route back to the Pas de Peyruis car park (S/E).
