Description of the walk

Departure from the Chemin des Gours dirt car park.

(S/E) Head south and take Rue de l'Empenelle.

(1) Turn left towards Place du Calvaire.

(2) Turn left onto Rue de la Source and go down the steps. At the crossroads, take Chemin de la Croix Rouge on the right.

(3) Ignore the path on the left and continue straight ahead.

(4) Turn right onto the path: be careful not to go all the way to the road a little further down. Then stay on the path to the right (GR®6).

(5) About 40 metres further down, you can walk out onto a first viewpoint over the Pont Saint-Nicolas and the Gardon river before returning to the path.

(6) Continue to the right to begin the only "difficult" part of this route: a climb of about 2 km with a 100 m elevation gain. Once on flat ground, you will reach a fork in the road.

(7) Turn right towards Vic. Ignore a path on the left further on and you will come to another crossroads. Continue to the right, keep to the right after the cistern and follow Rue du Réservoir to Place de la Liberté.

(8) Go around the church and pass under the porch. Then return to Place du Calvaire and take the path in the opposite direction to return to the starting point (S/E).

A very pleasant short hike with a superb view of the St Nicolas bridge. Several nice spots for a picnic (leaving nothing behind, of course!). Please note: suitable footwear is essential, as part of the route is very uneven. In addition, a good quarter of the route runs along the cliff edge overlooking the Gardon river, so caution is advised, especially if you have young children and/or if the ground is slippery.

A lovely little hike offering views over the Nicolas Bridge and the Gardon Gorges upstream from it. You can also see the Russan cliffs.
PS: the Gardon was no longer dry at the bridge, as it was this summer; thank goodness!!! Fortunately, the rains brought a little flow!!!

https://www.visorando.com/images/smileys, etc.)A very beautiful hike with magnificent views over the Gardon. I found the climb a bit difficult, so it might be easier going the other way... for those who aren't afraid of descending on rocky terrain.

It would be better to suggest doing this walk in the opposite direction so that you have the Saint-Nicolas bridge in front of you for a good part of the walk rather than behind you.

A magnificent route allowing you to discover the beautiful village of Vic and the St Nicolas bridge. Beautiful panoramas and a stunning view of the Gardon river, which the route follows for a while.
No particular difficulty.
Best avoided in the height of summer as there is no shade, or in windy weather.
Yellow markings all along the route.

A superb discovery. Honestly, there are some great views. There is even a tiny path that takes you down to the banks of the Gardon.
The only downside is the climb, which, although mentioned by the author, is a bit difficult for some people in my opinion, as it is mainly over rocks. Personally, I would rate it as moderate.
Many thanks for introducing me to the St Nicolas bridge, even though I'm from the Gard region.

In addition,
I suggest doing this beautiful route starting from the low point, near the St Nicolas bridge (point marked 3),
so that you can climb up to Vic first, then descend and return in the second part.
Vincent.

I discovered this route thanks to Visorando. We did the route on Christmas Day. It was just the right length and difficulty for us. It took us a little over two hours, including photos.
The map, together with the description, has everything you need.
Magnificent views from the St Nicolas bridge.
Well done and thank you.

It only took us 1.5 hours instead of 2 hours. The start above the roach is really nice.
