Saint-Aubin-de-Branne Red Circular Loop

The circular route starts from the town hall car park, near the church.

(S/E) Take the road on your right as you leave the car park, then follow the road to the right until you reach a junction.

(1) Take the small road on your right, heading towards the hamlet of Au Prieuré. Soon after, continue straight on and downhill to the Ruisseau du Prieur.

(2) Facing the woods, turn left and follow the stream. At the end of the plot, turn left to rejoin the limestone path, which you will follow until you reach the tarmac road.

(3) Turn right, then, at the bend, take the road on the left. Follow this road through the hamlet of Blanquine and continue to the next junction.

(4) Turn right, then at the next crossroads, take the limestone track on your left. Follow this track to the copse, which you will skirt on the left until you reach a fork in the vineyards.

(5) Turn right along the vineyards and enter the woods. Continue straight on until you reach the tarmac road and the cemetery.

(6) Turn left and keep left at the bend. After the bend and the houses, take the small dirt track and walk along the edge of the woods.

(7) Take the path into the woods on your right, which you will follow to the hamlet of Roqueblanche.

(8) At the junction, turn right onto the D19E2. At the first crossroads, turn left and continue along this road until the next junction, at Mont Tremblant and its mast.

(9) Turn left and follow the road through the hamlets of Julian and La Hage. At the crossroads in the centre of the hamlet, keep to the right and, at the end of the road, turn left until you reach a crossroads.

(10) At the first junction after the bend, turn right towards Pérey. At the crossroads, turn left and leave the tarmac road to take a grassy track, between the vineyards, until you reach the main road. You will see the Moulin de Lescours on your left.

(11) Continue to the stop sign and turn left onto the D19 until you reach the cross.

(12) Turn right. Pass the houses and the vineyard hut and take the path through the vineyards on your left. At the end of the first plot, turn left again.
At the road, turn left, then right to take the limestone track and pass in front of the Château de Conques. Continue along this track to the next crossroads.

(13) Turn right to reach the hamlet of Peyssan.

(14) At the bend that goes round the house, turn left onto the limestone path. Walk past the houses, take the grassy path next to the vineyards and walk along the edge of the woods for about a hundred metres.

(15) Turn right into the woods and follow the path until you rejoin the road at Labroue.

(16) Turn right and follow the small road, then the path through the woods. You will arrive in front of the church and return to your starting point (S/E).

You will find picnic tables opposite the car park and toilets behind the town hall.

The Church of Saint-Aubin (listed as a Historic Monument in 1925) is the work of the Abbey of Sainte-Croix in Bordeaux. It comprises four bays and a flat chevet at the eastern end. To the west, a narrow fifth bay serves as the base for the bell tower, which is preceded by a porch.
The two storeys are lit by pointed arched windows with extradosed arches, surmounted by an archivolt decorated with stars and resting on small columns with smooth capitals.
