Park in the parking spaces along Rue Armand Calliat, at the southern exit of Givry (Route de Cluny).
(S/E) Continue along the street until you reach the small road, turn left onto it, then take the first path up through the vineyards on the right. Keep left at the first fork and walk along the edge of the woods.
(1) Turn right to enter the woods. After about 100 metres, take the path on the right. Go around a chain blocking motor vehicles and climb up to the statue via a good path.
(2) At the statue, there is a beautiful view of Givry and the plain. You can stop here for lunch: there is a view, shade to sit in, and even tables! Continue, turn left onto the path, heading towards "Cellier aux Moines, Russilly, vers Saint-Denis". You will reach a crossroads about 300 metres from the statue.
(3) Turn right and follow the path along the fence.
(4) At the end of the fence, take the path downhill to the left. At the two T-junctions, turn left.
(5) At the last T-junction, at the end of the descent, turn left again. The path is wide and climbs back up into the woods, leading to another path running east-west. Turn right and you will come to a three-way junction.
(6) Turn right again and continue straight ahead to leave the woods and reach the start of the stubble fields. You will come to a junction with a small wayside cross where theGR®7and 76 long-distance footpaths meet. Continue straight ahead and begin the descent towards Saint-Denis-de-Vaux.
(7) Just before the bend, take a small, barely visible path on the left. You are now above the cliff with a beautiful view of the Vaux valley. Before thefirst white statue, descend to the left, then climb back up to reach a group of statues. Turn left and climb back up towardsthe GR® trail, whichyou follow to the right until you reach the edge of the fir trees. Leave a path on the left and you will immediately reach a multiple crossroads.
(8) Turn left to follow the edge of the meadow (the stubble) along the barbed wire. At the end of the barbed wire, go down the very long path that heads due east, with a view of Chalon-sur-Saône at the end.
(9) On the way down, look for the start of a path on the left marked by two large boulders. Opposite these boulders, take a path on the right that leads to a crossroads at the edge of the forest.
(10) Turn left and continue straight ahead.
(1) Continue on the right and retrace your steps to return to the car park on Rue Calliat (S/E).
