Les Baraques, the Canal de l'Est, the Manufacture Royale

Park in the Manufacture Royale de Bains-les-Bains car park.

(S/E) Turn your back on the estate and follow the road towards the small wooden bridge over the Coney and cross it.

(1) Turn left and follow the Canal de l'Est southwards to lock 32.

(2) Turn right to cross it and continue straight on towards the small hamlet of Grurupts. Cross it and continue to the left-hand bend.

(3) Leave the road and take the path that climbs into the woods towards the north-west, keeping some distance from the Gruey stream. Join a small road and follow it to the right for about 50 metres.

(4) Turn right onto the road that crosses the hamlet of Les Baraques, then take the path on the right. Cross the stream via the simple bridge on your right and continue along the path towards the north-west until you reach a place called Les Conailles. You will be crossing a private forest where hunting may take place on Thursdays and Sundays.

(5) Turn right towards the south-east and continue straight ahead.

(6) Turn left at a right angle, walk about 50 metres, then turn right onto a small path that descends towards lock 31, which you cross.

(7) Turn right to walk south-west on the towpath between the Canal de l'Est and the Coney and return to the wooden bridge.

(1) Cross the Coney again and turn left to reach the Manufacture car park (S/E).
