Stages of the route
This route needs several days, find the details below:
Other walks in the area
Circular of Alpe du Lauzet
A post-lunch stroll at the foot of the Aiguillette du Lauzet overlooking the Lautaret sector of the great mountain passes.
The Grand Lac and the Lac de la Ponsonnière
20 minutes from the town of Monêtier-les-Bains. A lovely day’s hike with a magnificent view at the end. Views over the Grand Lac and the Écrins massif.Return to the car park via the same route.
Lac et Col de la Ponsonnière via the Grand Lac
An alternative route for the round trip to Le Grand Lac and Lac de la Ponsonnière allows for a circular route involving a chimney passage, but this restricts access to those with at least some mountain experience.A breathtaking, panoramic view of the Écrins Massif: Mont Pelvoux, the Barre des Écrins, the Pic de Neige Cordier, the Meije, the Rateau and more.
Grand Galibier from the Pont de l'Alp
A magnificent hike leading to the legendary Grand Galibier viewpoint, from where you can admire almost the entire French Alps. Part of the hike is off-trail and often on poorly marked paths, but the most difficult part of the route is well marked with cairns.
On the agenda: unique panoramic views, numerous crystal-clear lakes, friendly wildlife, wild valleys dating back to the Ice Age, all under the deep blue skies of the Hautes-Alpes.
The Pont de l'Alpe – Tunnel des Vallois circular route
A particularly interesting circular route running parallel to the D1091, the road from Grenoble to Briançon.
Tour de Roche Robert
A wild hike, partly off-trail, to an area popular with ibex, offering first-class views of the Montagne des Agneaux, the Pic de Combeynot and some of the Cerces peaks.
I recommend using the Visorando app.
The Tour de l'Aiguillette du Lauzet
A beautiful route in the Cerces Massif, which joins the Via Ferrata du Lauzet at La Croix.
The Guisane spring at the start of the Lauzet
The Guisane, which waters the entire valley from the Col du Lautaret, crosses the villages of Serre Chevalier, Le Monêtier-les-Bains, La Salle-les-Alpes and Chantemerle before joining the Durance in Briançon. This easy climb follows the old Lautaret road to the pass, before turning left to reach the source of the Guisane.
