By car or bicycle: at the top of Avenue des Golfs in Saint-Raphaël, take the Louve forest road (Please note: access to the massif is restricted during periods of forest fire danger). Pass the Carrefour de la Colle Douce car park and park in another car park 500 metres further on, on the Porfait track.
(S/E) From the car park, take theGR®49marked in white and red. Ignore a path on the left in a right-hand bend and arrive at the Col des Sacs.
(1) Turn left and continue on theGR®49, which goes around a small rocky peak. Beautiful views of the Gulf of Fréjus. At the Jausier crossroads, climb theGR®49trail opposite to a nameless pass. View of the massif on the peak to the right.
(2) At the pass, leave theGR®49and descend the middle path, slightly to the left (blue cross on the ground). This balcony path crosses five streams and leads to the Cantine du Porfait.
(3) Take the path on the left and continue straight on the Route d'Italie to the Maison Forestière du Malpey.
(4) Turn right onto Route des Cols, pass a car park and ignore the path on the left. Go through a barrier and continue on the same road. Cross a gully and find a path on the right (Route des Malavettes).
(5) Leave the road and take this path. Ignore a trail on the right and arrive at a stream.
(6) Cross the stream in a right-hand bend and join the path on the right (hairpin bend).
(7) Turn right to reach the bottom of the Cabre valley.
(8) Turn left onto the path that runs alongside the Cabre. Cross a ford and continue on the right bank. Cross asecond ford and continue on the left bank.
(9) Shortly afterwards, turn right onto a path, cross a ford and climb uphill. Cross another stream in a left-hand bend and reach the Col de l'Essuyadou.
(10) Descend the path opposite, marked in yellow. Turn right at the crossroads and continue to the next one.
(11) Take the path on the right and immediately continue straight ahead on the yellow-marked path. Go around the summit of Bonnet de Capelan and come out at a stream.
(12) Cross it in a right-hand bend and continue downhill. At Lac de la Péguière, continue straight ahead and then pass by the second lake.
(13) At the third lake, walk along the right side of the lake and continue on the path until you reach a track.
(14) Turn left, then immediately left again onto a path and, after about 20 metres, just before a car park, climb up a trail.
(15) At the T-junction, take a path on the left marked in blue. Continue along the stream in the Barbon valley. Shortly afterwards, cross the stream and take the path opposite. Cross the stream again and you will come to a track.
(16) Turn right onto the Castelli track and cross the Barbon bridge. After about ten metres, take a barely visible path on the right up to the top of the hill and you will reach a car park.
(17) Turn left onto the Piste du Porfait (tarmac road) and follow it to the car park on the Piste du Porfait (S/E).
