Description of the walk

Take the Route de la Louve at the roundabout between Avenue des Golfs and Avenue du Colonel Brooke. Please note that this road has numerous large potholes! Park in the first car park on the right at Carrefour de la Colle Douce.

(S/E) Go to the back of the car park and take a path on the right. Descend to the bottom of the Barban valley.

(1) Go up the path on the left, marked with a green line on a white background. Join the Castelli trail and go down to the right.

(2) Turn right onto the path towards the Péguières ponds, then left to reach the first pond. Go to the end of the pond.

(3) Turn right onto a path lined with eucalyptus and mimosa trees and pass the second pond.

(4) Turn left onto the path that goes around the pond and continue along this path. Ignore the path on the right. Continue until you reach a bridge on the left.

(5) Continue climbing towards the Col de l'Essuyadou. The path follows the bottom of the valley below the Bonnet de Capelan and is quite rugged. Turn right just before the Col de l'Essuyadou.

(6) Climb the Essuyadou track on the left towards Carrefour de Roche Noire (views of Mont Vinaigre).

(7) Descend opposite the Porfait trail towards Vallon de Barban and cross the valley.

(8) Turn right onto the path just before a bridge, cross a stream and climb towards Le Jausier.

(9) Descend the GR® 49 towards Saint-Raphaël to the Col des Sacs (views of the Gulf of Fréjus).

(10) Descend the GR® 49 on the right.

(11) Turn left and continue to the Piste du Porfait.

(12) Turn right and walk up the Piste du Porfait to the car park (S/E).

We couldn’t find the start of the route after the descent; we had to head back to the main forest track before finding the rest of our route 500 metres further on. This first section may no longer be maintained. To be checked
